We're going to Wembley. Who else is coming? CAPITAL ONE CUP SEMI-FINAL, SECOND LEG Venue: Etihad Stadium Date: Wednesday, 27 January Kick-off: 19:45 GMT Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says Willy Caballero will take over from Joe Hart in goal for Wednesday's League Cup semi-final second leg. Eliaquim Mangala, Vincent Kompany, Aleksandar Kolarov, Wilfried Bony and Samir Nasri remain sidelined. Everton, who lead 2-1 after the first leg, will be without two key players. Midfielder Muhamed Besic (hamstring) and winger Kevin Mirallas (tendon) suffered injuries in the Premier League defeat against Swansea on Sunday. Earlier in January, goals from Ramiro Funes Mori and Romelu Lukaku gave the Toffees a slender advantage. They last reached the final in 1984, when they lost to Liverpool, while City triumphed in 2014.
Pellegrini: "Everton's first goal was absolutely offside and it was a clear penalty when Jesus Navas was fouled. I didn't speak to the referee after the game - they were both clear. To lose 2-1 is a bad result but it just means we have to win 1-0 at home. I still think we are able to play in the Capital One Cup final. "It's the third time we'll play Everton in one month - we know their team." Martinez: "Disappointments are painful at the moment because results have not been fair in reflecting the efforts and football we have played."
Coincidentally we are due to play Everton and Man City in the league on the 28th Feb and 2nd March respectively.
Prefer Everton for the occasion but I'm not sure who I would rather play in the final. Both are very dangerous and we are pretty poor atm.
good call on this one. WERE DUE.... won't be playing a league match on the 28th v anyone... whoooo hoo!
whats the teams for tonight.... this is a match thread after all... Everton... lukaku an 10 others City Aguero and 10 others.
the thing is no matter what everton fans might say they have somewhere in the back of thier minds the fear that their team might freeze on the big day. city will not. LFC are highly likely to freeze given how ****e they were yesterday and the almost total lack of cup final experience. some of our lads have it but a lot don't I'm sure some everon lads played some cup finals but most have not. ergo.... if you know city will turn up and have 4 really good forwards while everton might not turn up and have lukaku and not much else... welllllll... overall...
Blimey, it's a rival watch thread and you added Everton for comedy effect. Put a 10 on a 2-0 loss with aguero scoring first at 20/1
He doesn't have the legs but he can keep the ball better than Kone. We are going to need that if we are to get anything from this!
