Just got another message from CAFC on Facebook. I was going to start another thread but we have lots so I'll stick it on here. Basically, they invited me to be happy that our academy had been voted as one of the leading ones in the country. Just before christmas, KM told an audience in Dublín that one of the objectives of the regime was that the fans could enjoy watching future premiership stars at the Valley in a Charlton shirt. As I live in Spain, I only get to follow them on the internet, so even my future stories to my grandchildren will have to begin along the lines of 'I remember reading updates about that Ahearn-Grant feller when we got beaten at home by Preston, and look at him now playing for Arsenal....Charlton got nearly twenty grand for him, and a free camera for katrien'. Do they really think this sort of fluff is a substitute for communication. I'd switch it off, but there is a comments option which lots of Addicks fans use to abuse nearly every 'news-flash'. But the Academy? That's a wind up on a big scale when we are told flat they won't be ours for any real time.
Yes. They must realice where their credibility is these days, but they keep up this line of cheesy 'look how great we are' comments when the majority of the fanbase just wants a different owner and no Katrien.
Rather like the Club's disastrous "Buy a half season ticket for 8 quid"* offer, there is a huge chasm between the crap they are pumping out, and the reality. *- a senior ex employee of the Club divulged that they only sold just over 100
if she had any clue or self awareness of her talents she'd go to the game... then quit and catch the next eurostar home after.
She would have no idea where Ebbsfleet is or who works there ... she would probably struggle why Charlton are in a Cup for Kent clubs anyway ....!
Not surprised Steve Gibson pulled out of signing Rhodes - apparently over the 4 years it would have cost him £30mil!! I wonder where this leaves Watt though?
According to Twitter the Rhodes to Boro deal is back on today Rhys Wiggins signs for Bournemouth for £200k - good luck to him.
