Have a Palace friend and apart from the first 6 games, he reckons the standard of football on show is as bad as under Pulis. Long balls punted forward aimlessly and one dimensional play. Pass to Cabaye and hope he does something. It's not so much the bad run. It's his tactics, substitutions and awful football that is riling them up. Sounds familiar.
Good shout. We need to keep every mention of Pardew in one place that way the lovers and haters can argue the toss over the respective pros and cons of the lino pushing, player headbutting, excuse pedalling sexy silver fox to their hearts content.
Seeing as it's traditional to do a special thread for reaching 10,000 posts, I was thinking of maybe doing a Pardew love-in thread. It might just be the two of us on it though!
Can we clap through the whole 1st minute of every game for the next 5 years just to show our appreciation to Pardew. I think the 1st minute is quite poignant as Pardew is the Number 1 Manager in the World
I also have a die hard Palace fan for a mate and he is over the moon. He reckons the football has moved on and they play exciting wing orientated football. They've been praised all season up until the last 4 games where they have had their arse handed to them by some quality sides. He reckons the Chelsea one really knocked their end in confidence wise and people were just getting carried away. He was hoping it was a blip with the cup win but he says they've struggled to get going. He is adamant they basically lack goalscorers - I think he said their strikers had one goal between them this season I think he also said they hadn't scored for 5 or 6 games but are creating chances. He was pretty scathing of Pardew keeping the faith with welsh keeper. He reckons he has dropped 2 or 3 clangers. He reckons more than anything they are badly missing Bolasie. he reckons its no coincidence that since he has been out they have barely scored. I suppose like most teams of that sort of level, take the best player out of the team and you will struggle a bit. I think you have to be somewhat realistic with regards to their squad, 31 points is one hell of a haul at this stage of the season. Many thought they'd be in and around the relegation battle. Indeed many on here said that now he'd had his 6 months they'd struggle. As it is he has had another 6 months of overachievement and has now eventually/inevitably hit a tricky spell. It just seems some have waited for that and pounced rather than putting it into actual context.
In Newcastle? He'll do well to wait about 2 more months, they'll go like hot cakes. Oh hang on, better tell him to get it sorted pronto, Steve has just lost a "derby" 6-0. These londoners taking our jobs.
I've got a palace mate too. At least I presume he's at the palace. He definitely said he was living at her majesty's pleasure.
I should point out the Palace fan I have for a mate once looked into to changing his middle name to "Raul" because he liked the spanish footballer so much...so he is a bit touched (not in an Adam Johnson type way)
Adding over the top details will not make your imaginary Palace mate any more real. My other Palace mate told me they only have 10 fans and none of them ever looked into changing his middle name to Raul.
Right I'm bringing him to the meet up. I won't have my integrity questioned. I might do a leaving thread because of this and flounce off into the sunset. Give it ten minutes while I think of a suitable song.
I see it all now!!! This had nothing to do with making up an imaginary Palace fan and everything to do with having an excuse for your 'friend' to be with you at the meet up!!
I think we should have just one leaving thread for all the people who want to leave including both you and the imaginary Raul.
I don't think any of us would ever have predicted that a thread about Mike Ashley's spending would have ever ended up on the subject of Raul
