Bridlington RNLI has just released their figures for the past twelve months, they rescued 136 people. Well done to all the brave men and women, mainly volunteers, who turn out in any weather to conduct these rescues. <applause>

I know you're taking the piss, but for the record, the new lifeboat doesn't fit in the old one.

Also its on the main road so they have moved so they don't have to stop traffic everytime it need to go out.

I follow RNLI on Instagram. They put up some amazing pictures. We were in Bude, Cornwall in the summer and they had an RNLI training day. I was sat next to a Grandma who had 2 grandsons in the RNLI and her husband and son had also been active members. She had some brilliant stories to tell, I could have listened to her all day.

They do an absolutely astounding job. This was a picture of the training exercise. It was incredible.

is that the place with the steps up the rocks? and that "river" on the beach runs up into the town? i've got a ton of photos from cornwall but can't remember which places they were all from. when i was there they were filming on the beach for nighty nighty though it looked like some period drama thing at the time.

Is it brid where they have to stop traffic & a bell gets rung when the boats on the way to beach? I was on the beach when there was an incident and it took forever for the boat to be launched!

Although it's needed and is going to look amazing I cannot understand why there was no joined up thinking and this and the Yorkshire water works were not ran side by side. The beach wall that was rebuilt is now having to be moved outward due to the new boats width.I have never understood why stuff like this happens.

Indeed they are. We take the time to visit the local lifeboat station pretty much every time we are on holiday. I have lost count of how much RNLI stuff my kids have.
My son in particular takes a great interest (It helps that my father-in-law is a member of the flamborough life boat society).

I used to love the old Lifeboat Station at North Landing as a kid. Went in there in the 90's; it was closing and there was a campaign to keep it open.

(I was with a woman I was 'romancing' and ended up putting a tenner in the appeal box! <yikes> )

It was mental that they had to pull the lifeboat up and down that hill...

Great pic! There was a turntable where it changes level. The boat landed bow-first, but had to be launched bow-first anarl.

They moved it from North Landing to South Landing, where there's still a hill, but it's not quite so bad...

The North Landing guys reckoned that the boat from the above wasn't really safe to get around the Head, if there was a vessel in danger on the north side.
