£3m is good money for him taking into account the way he has played lately.

Leaves us lacking in talent up front though with Revell, Macheda (sorry Stevo), Pilks (if not injured after the sore hammie incident on Saturday) and Saadi, fresh from 45 minutes with the Development Squad.

This is where the FFP ban sucks. Get £3m in for Mason, pay £1m for Watt, £2m up on the deal so the club is in a better financial position.

P.S. Hope any sell on clause with Plymouth has expired.

Staggering - his display on Saturday was worth 3 pence.

Does leave us very short up front. I like Joe, his early season form shows what he is capable of, but Wolves are clearly willing to pay over the odds for him. Bite their hand off for 3 million

If we're left with anything over £2.5m this feels like very good business. He's never been prolific, isn't quick, doesn't have a first touch and misses plenty of chances.
He'll certainly never make it at PL level so the money feels strong for a guy who's scored 44 goals in 194 appearances at L1 and Championship level according to wiki (I think a few of his most recent appearances are missing from those stats).

Could this be the start of Tan's asset strip or a means of funding whatever we end up paying from the Hammam court case?

I honestly don't think so, I just think it's a very good offer for a very average player. If I was them I'd buy Watt.

    one extreme to the other.

Gone from a very bloated squad to one that is approaching paper thin.

Makes letting Kennedy go out on loan even more baffling. Unless they want him to get some game time so he goes into our squad when he comes back ( 1 month loan isn't it?).

Hope so although the dirty Leeds have been sniffing around as well.

If Mason goes then there is a real need for us to get Watt back.

Leeds were interested but Cellino has said today that he doesn't expect any more additions this window.

If he's not getting a permanent move, my bet is Watt would jump at returning here if given the chance - far better prospects than Leeds.

Shame really that we have an entire board and management team that know very little about football. Obviously we have failed the lad by not getting in players who can compliment his style (purely based on statements from the club that suggested that this guy was an asset for the future etc etc), have the same work ethos or have the ability to deliver into his channels the list is endless guys, in short we have not invested in our asset. We have individuals and not a team and a structure that has no idea of how to merge those individuals into a team. Best of luck to him at Wolves, someone has seen something that our lot has not, and I bet my bottom dollar that he scores at least 8 times in the run up to the end of the season ( hopefully he will get the game time) to see them automatically promoted or scores in the playoffs possibly the final ? As they say "Its written in the stars" Thanks for the memories Joe, and apologies for the inept management systems that we have at this club in not making you the star you can possibly become?

Maybe, he'll be a better judge than me too (not hard <laugh>) if Mason is a success. He might have a little spurt to start with but I'm confident however many minutes he's given he'll settle into a goal every 4 or so games whilst creating very little assist wise as an average.

I believe Joe always gave his best when he was out there and for that reason I wish him well, I just don't think he's got the potential some other City fans seem to think he had/has.

As you quite rightly say, time will tell <ok>

Strange one, it would seem a no brainer that we'd have him back. I wonder if his suspect temperament had already began to show?

2 goals in 9 wasn't a wonderful return but he did have the drive and tenacity Mason does not have. We certainly looked more of a threat with him than not, but Saadi looks the same sort of player. So maybe when he is match fit (probably the end of season dead rubber games) we'll get to se the best of him.

He's built like Aguerro but that is where the similarity ends.<whistle>

Could be the prelude to Blackburn selling Jordan Rhodes to a lower Prem or top Championship club.

Pity. I had heard nothing about attitude issues with us.

Assuming Joe goes it leaves us lacking any real threat up front. Even when Saadi starts to play his fitness is going to remain a risk hence the initial gamble to sign him when we had a shedful of strikers.

We don't even have a card board box full now.
