He made his run from the left, and no one picked him up.

    Lucas is sh*t.

  2. Moreno as been good at times but his positioning as been an issues all season. He just doesn't know where to put himself and instead dives in rather than holding shape.

Stoke targeted that side (not the player) knowing Moreno wants to play LW and abandons his LB role fairly often.

I've actually criticised Clyne for this at times too (but he's not as bad for it), as soon as we get possession our FBs are pushing forward and playing like wingers.

Your last sentence is bollox. they are defenders, only one of them can defend!

  3. You continue to aim all criticism towards players you've declared your dislike for for way over a year. No creditability is the result. Haters going to hate and all that <ok>

He was drawn to the ball and therefore left a gaping chasm in the left back channel. His half hearted attempt to challenge resulted in the ball merely being flicked past him and they merely played it into the space.

    It was ****e defending Jimmy.

  5. Exactly. We're not far from the halfway line there so stand your ground, hold you shape and retreat as a team. Give other players time to get back and help. Diving in and missing the ball make the situation much much worse.

Moreno is following the Enrique route atm btw. **** positioning which allows the attacker to get the better of him, he then tries to use his pace to make up for the error. Only difference is, Enrique never stood and watched after making the initial error, Moreno occasionally does.

Pretty sure you slated Enrique didn't you?

I'm not saying Moreno is good defensively - he's below average. We both agreed that we wanted better before he signed.

But there is NO ONE at the club better than him in that position.

Either develop him (still only 23) it buy someone

If you decide to go to the ball in that situation then you have to be sure of winning it.

It's all about decision making, and his defensive decision making is ****ing ****e.

He's the same when you're defending deep, he doesn't read danger at all well, he's a headless chicken at times.

Jimmy blames Rodgers, I would blame the fact that he's not a natural defender.

Flanagan is. Those are the simple facts of it.

If Flanagan was Brazilian with a nice quiff and called Flaninho, and had a couple of seasons under his belt at Valencia, Jimmy would call him an elite young talent. The fact he's a scouser who's come through your academy and looks like he's been run over by a bus, he's not having him.

  9. Disagree. Flanno is a much better defender that can offer something (but not as much as moreno) when going forward. FB is a defensive position, I'd rather have someone that defends first and attacks second in there.

I'd play Moreno at LW, his pace would cause damage and with less responsibility defensively it might improve his end product too.

Good to have the options now Flanno is back.

Then you completely lose the attacking threat down the left - clyne has been poor offensively so where is the width going to come from?

  12. Did you read the second part of that comment? <laugh>

Even if Moreno wasn't pushed forward, Flanno would still get forward like he did in 2013-14 and like he did last night.

I for one don't think his attacking is all that seeing the ball in is drivel and his defending is woeful. and i mean woeful.

What doesn't help is sahko is a nutter. he was all over the shop last night. he wanted to go attack and wi nthe game and thats davied luiz bullshit not a solid responsible CB.

I don't think sahko and moreno help each other much at all.

Yep and it wouldn't work - Carra said it best - who dreams of becoming a full back? They are failed wingers. They can't play as a winger which is why they settle for full back.

Dani Alves and Roberto Carlos are prime examples - they were both used as wingers at some point and failed.

  16. Which is also a great argument for why Moreno shouldn't be playing LB!

    PS...Bale?

Disagree - I thought Sakho was very good last night.

Or maybe I thought that simply because he's not a local lad.

    So let's sell him?

    #878
  19. No. Squad options is what we want. Flanno, Clyne and Moreno gives us options. That isn't a bad thing.

Not every player can play every week. Maybe a few games on the bench will do him good. Same goes for Can imo
