This year is turning out to be a really bad one for musicians. RIP - Colin Vearncombe. Desperately sad for his family and friends
I saw him in concert many years ago at the Royal Court in Liverpool. Under-rated in the music business. What sadness.
She wins. Too close to call her encounter with Kerber. Really hope Serena wins again to put her within sight of matching and possibly overtaking Margaret Court's number of Open wins.
Murray beat Ferrer 3 sets to one. Now Andy Murray, Konta and Jamie Murray (in doubles) in Australian semi-finals.
Re the Cowes fire....one chap lost 90 boats What a terrible blow....what happens next depends on how good the insurance is for affected companies. Probably going to get very complicated with insurance companies looking to assign blame....apparently started with a car on a ramp.
Poor bloke. From my experience of insurance companies, they'll prevaricate, delay and apportion blame as much as possible to avoid paying out whatever they can. Yet they'll take the money off you as quick as they can .................... Good luck to him - I hope he survives the blow.
On the 71st anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and Holocaust Memorial Day, I came across this song by wonderful singer/songwriter Reg Meuross, whom I came across last year at the New Forest Folk Festival (and wondered how I ever missed him before - he writes the most magical songs). It's all about Sophie Scholl and her brother Hans, who tried non-violent resistance against the Nazis and who was executed in 1943 for treason for handing out leaflets against the war. Watch it and I hope you like it.
I've met Reg, he has played our village hall a couple of times. He used to be with Hank Wangford. Great song btw.
Oh yes, nearly forgot: Yorkshireman to wife: I'm off to t'pub, get your coat on. Wife: Ooh, are you taking me? Yorkshireman: No, I'm turning t'heating off.
Really nice guy, isn't he? Did you meet Andy Roberts, too? He's been playing guitar with Hank Wangford for a number of years now and is also a great guy whom I met a year or so ago. There are some great musicians out there ...........
Yes I believe Andy was there the first time the Wangford crew played. The thing that never ceases to amaze me about watching live music is that I never cease to be amazed by someone, or something. I can't remember the last time I thought of going to a gig as a complete waste of time! Talking of which, our tickets for Fable / The Cult at the Colston Hall arrived today!
I've tried to get the kids to see this: Live music is always worth seeing. Do they believe this old duffer, though? Do they hell. Vin
