They're average mate - plain and simple. Fans wonder why we are where we are and it's this. Too many workers, not enough quality. The fact that Can is our best midfielder who is only 22 and still very raw says a lot.
Good ratings @danilo. Think Sakho was an 8 and our MOTM. Would give Flanno a 7 because he partially at fault for the goal - didn't get mentioned but Arnautovic was his man and he loses him. I know he was offside but still should have been closer or pass his man onto Kolo. I agree with you on Moreno but I think you were still a bit generous. He's still a raw defender who has suffered under Rodgers. He's been a lot better this season, especially under Klopp. Now, he's below par defensively and he needs to improve but he is young and Klopp will hopefully develop him further. But he is our best LB and by some distance. Smith is very good at getting forward but he's appalling defensively, and Flanno may be semi-decent defensively but then we lose the attacking threat down the left. Either we persist with Moreno and develop him, or we bring someone in (Ricardo Rodriguez please!). Moreno gets all the blame for the goal but I watched it again and as I said earlier, Flanno loses his man. Moreno is quite high but that's because Stoke bypassed our midfield and they would have been clean through on our defence had he not been there. Moreno was proactive in reading that danger but the execution was poor which then left him out of position. As with Lovren, I respect defenders who are proactive and read the danger but you have to be winning those balls.
Another super expensive outing to Wembley with a chance to win a trophy that is really beneath the likes of your club that has won the Champions League 5 times, and the League title 19 times and so on. Here's a question. Do you try to get a ticket for this very over-rated event, the League Cup Final (it's a bit like the X factor), or save your money and spend it on travelling around Europe as your adventure in the Euro League competition continues with possible trips to Valencia, or Sevilla or Bilbao should you progress?
I don't see it as beneath our club, if we ever start behaving like that I'll stop watching footy. Your point on it being expensive is a valid one though. I have family in North London so could easily go to the game and have somewhere to stay but the cost of tickets for me and my lad would be too much.
If your family or perhaps their children support one of the North London teams you must have some super times with them. I thought that the League Cup was a brilliant competition in the 60s, 70s and 80s, maybe even into the 90s but the switch to a Sunday afternoon/evening kick off means there is little time to celebrate afterwards. In addition, Rail Network will make it doubly difficult to get there as they no doubt will have engineering works at some place like Rugby so that alone would put me off going. Given the fact that the final is going to be against a fellow team from the NW, travel will indeed be fun!!
My children all support Liverpool this is not a choice they had in life. My wifes side are all WBA. I'll watch the final in a pub somewhere (will have to sort this), I'll be like a crazed lunatic throughout.
Talking of venues for finals perhaps this a final that could be played at a different one around the country each season. There's Old Trafford and the City of Manchester Stadium that have been utilised for finals far more important than the Capitol One, St James's Park, Stadium of Light, Anfield when the capacity is up to 58,000. And in the South there's the Emirates, the Olympic Stadium and eventually Tottenham's new ground. I nearly forgot the one in Cardiff where your guys won many a final.
Yeah but wemberlee is 90k and will be full. Oh and best of luck with this line but the fact is its a final to be won and a nice confidence bonus for our lot. The key is do they kick on or sit back and bask in their glory... the bigger prizes are in league and europa league Sadly the fa cup looks well beyond us after playing 120mins midweek
Flanno was good last night, performance wise yes but more importantly I noticed that he was dragging the back four up with him and screaming at them to get higher. The kid could be a big asset to us as we don't have enough vocal players.
Didn't you win 4 trophies under Houllier? So the FA Cup is not beyond your team. The hardest will be the Europa League with some undoubted quality there with 4 very good Spanish teams, some from Germany, Napoli, and Tottenham.
