Don't you just love how the unexpected turns up to blight your day. Having endured my French class, I prepared myself for an afternoon of fresh air on the estate. Walking past the small out- building that contains our fosse septique I noticed water coming from under the door. Upon investigation it became clear there was a blockage in the system which needed some attention. Lifting the lids it was pretty clear that this was going to be a shovel and rod job. An hour later the blockage was removed and things were running freely again, but fresh air it was not. My neighbour has a man with a suction devise on his lorry come round to empty the one in their house every year. I have never quite worked out why the large tube is transparent so that you can see the contents being whisked up into the container. Think that this time I really will have to call on his services. :( Oh the joys of country living.

Having watched the penalty shoot-out at Anfield, I wondered who would be the 5 I would like to see taking the penalties for us if needed. I decided that it would be Deeney, Ighalo, Abdi, Watson and Cathcart.

I am having problems so will not be serving breakfast for a while. New job, new management, same table, chair and computer. The new group is driven more than the previous.

We are flooded! The bottom of the lane is under two feet of water for about 50 metres. Fortunately there's another way out up the hill otherwise we'd be stranded. The higher wheel base of a 4x4 does have its uses!

One positive of having to sit on a rubber ring is that it has other uses! <whistle><laugh>

My wife's friend placed her car into a ditch and her husband and father in law could not get the car out so I was sent with my Volvo and rope. She was soon free. The woman was healthy but the car has a broken bumper. I know not of the suspension parts.

The town is taking many Syrian refugees.

Akureyri, will be the first community to take in refugees fleeing the civil war in Syria, reports RÚV.
Sigríður Stefánsdóttir, head of Akureyri’s social and human rights department, says the people of Akureyri will welcome Syrian refugees into their community with open arms.
“What people want is to feel safe, have a roof over their head and to be able to work and support themselves and their families.”
She notes that integration is a complex and gradual process which demands effort and patience from both the individual and the host society. She says it’s important that Akureyri town support the families for at least a year to help them integrate more easily.
Iceland plans to take in a number of Syrian refugees and help them resettle into towns and communities across the country. In addition to Akureyri, Akranes, Strandir region, and the Reykjavík suburb of Hafnarfjörður have shown interest in accommodating refugees.

I do not like to be told to welcome somebody. They will be welcomed but for a civil servant to instruct in this style is wrong. I hope these people are families and not just men as I see in Germany and everywhere else who cause problems.
