You're talking about a team mostly of players who will be lucky to get game time in the regular season, with two seperate teams each half. I'm talking about one man who didn't force the keeper into one good save despite having multiple chances, that you say will be top scorer. Hmm...

Would you not admit, you struggled mightily for huge parts of those games? <ok>

Please tell us the basis upon which you make the above claims?

And it took a disgraceful piece of cheating by the ref to allow them back into the game.

The Blackpool game, yeah. We were terrible in the first half but had enough to turn it around. West Brom, we were **** and lucky to get anything. But our forwards (and Gary Neville) did their job. Thought we actually played pretty well away to West Ham in spite of being 2 down.

Hey, I've been destroyed here for my inaccuracies. fair enough. There's a reason why I don't WUM often. I'm terrible at it. I do think you will struggle to break into the top 4 though, no WU intended. Arsenal are the obvious target but they always seem to be there or there abouts. If the world ended tomorrow, you'd be left with cockroaches and Arsenal.

Anyways, sorry if I offended anyone (doubt it as my comments were so full of holes) and I'm off to bed :)

At the start of the season anything is possible but my own personal opinion is Liverpool will finish outside the top 4. They will be involved in the fight for 4th but I think Arsenal will just pip them to it. Two or three seasons from now Liverpool may make top 4 with the right signings but footballs becoming more competitive and Liverpool chose a bad time to drop out of the top 4.

While Liverpool are rebuilding Arsenal are falling apart but I think Liverpool fell quite a bit away over the last 2 years and will need 2 or 3 seasons of positive progress coupled with Arsenals continued slide to regain 4th. Not so much evidence, more opinion.

If Arsenal keep hold of Nasri and Fabregas and sign a defender, I think they'll be challenging for the title again. Gervinho looks like a great purchase.

So, Arsenal, City, Chelsea etc. 'will' (that being a reference to the remainder of the transfer window) strengthen, but haven't, for the most part done so yet.
If they have the opportunity to strengthen further, so do Liverpool.
A lot of you seem to think Liverpool's business is done, while the rest of the mentioned teams are yet to do theirs, which isn't the case at all.
Who knows what will happen and who will be at which club come September? Maybe Liverpool will add one or two more, maybe Chelsea will. Maybe neither will.

What a fooking surprise..The United "experts" all reckon with there vast knowledge Liverpool will finish out side the top 4.

However with there "world class" signings they'll romp to the title.

And they call Liverpool fans deluded<doh><doh>

In my opinion you have strengthened the squad in the area it least needed strengthening - central midfield. You now have Gerrard, Adams, Lucas, Meireles, Spearing, Aquilani and possibly even Henderson competing for two midfield spots, and yet you only have three recognised PL quality strikers and four central defenders two of which (Carragher and Agger) probably won't play all (or even most of) your games. And the transfer window is still young - Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea could all bring in big names later in the window.

Your form was impressive, but then as I've said before Dalglish wouldn't be the first manager to come into a club and turn their form around in mid season only to slump the following season. Remember all your players talking about what a boost they got when Dalglish came in halfway through the season and turned the atmosphere at the club around? That boost won't necessarily be there next season - the players will expect the atmosphere to be like that from day one.

Same as above. And remember that last season was the worst PL season by the top teams for a decade. I seriously doubt the current top five will be as inept as they were for a lot of last season.

To be fair Liverpool haven't addressed their defensive weakness either. Carragher and Aurelio are now the wrong side of 30 and increasingly injury prone, Agger has a similar injury record to Ferdinand, only six years earlier, and there is no guarantee your young players will continue to be solid at the back. If you are reliant on Skrtel to play every minute of every PL game again then you will definitely be shipping goals at the back again imo.

I should point out that I'm not claiming you won't get top 4, nor am I claiming that you will. But I think claims by some of your fans that the top 4 is a nailed on certainty are short sighted at best and they should wait until at least 10 games of the new season are out of the way before making such claims. Although I also think the same about other clubs' fans claiming that you definitely won't get top 4 next season - it's just too early to tell.

Really can't see Arsenal challenging for the title, at least not right to the end anyway. Gervinho did look good on his debut but then Chamakh looked top class in his early days. Should probably also bare in mind that Arsenal's interest in Gervinho was well documented and nobody else came in for him.

Same could be said of Hernandez and Suarez...

I have a feeling Gervinho will be boss, Wenger rarely spends big money on a player that won't make quite a big impact.

Not really. No one knew anything of United's interest in Hernandez until he was signed. Suarez though, I'll give you. We'll see with Gervinho but I'm not expecting great things tbh. Is he skilful/creative enough to play on the wing? Is he prolific enough to play up front?

    Fair enough on Hernandez.

And on Gervinho, I'll admit I have no idea what he's like as a player. Looking at his stats though he seems to be a 20 goals + assists player, which isn't that bad in the grand scheme of things and is better than anything Arsenal have on the right at the minute in regards to creativity/skill.
