Guys last week we where top of the league happy with how we are doing one loss later you guys are crying for wenger to leave
The flip side to this is that we could actually address the problems we have as a team, climb up the table and actually compete in Europe and domestically on all fronts. It works both ways. To try and compare where we were before Wenger and where we are now is disingenuous and a totally ridiculous argument, frankly. The dynamics and the expectations have changed significantly pre-Wenger and with the resources that we have as a club currently, there is no real reason for us to go in the opposite direction unless we make an absolutely disastrous appointment like Ian Dowie. Which the club are not stupid enough to do.
The direct comparison was made with City and Real though and their high turnover of managers, it was postulated that despite that, they don't fall apart. I pointed out that is because they both spend inordinate amounts of cash to ensure that it doesn't happen. Personally I don't want to see Arsenal go down the same route.
Yeah, and that's fair enough. But getting a new manager does not mean that the aforementioned hypothetical circumstances above shall follow. There is no need for it to happen and realistically, it won't happen.
But it's not though, is it? Because people, like myself, have remained sceptical for a while and there's been no evidence over the past month to suggest that we shouldn't be.
I'm not sure it would either, I was just pointing out the reasons why City and Real have remained at the top despite frequently changing their managers. Those two clubs were being uses as a direct comparison to Arsenal.
I've not been happy with how Wenger has done fit years and wanted him to leave for years... Being top last week never changed that. And wanting him to leave is not 'crying'. Those who want him to stay are scared of change and have low expectations.
They stay at the top because they have some excellent players like we do. Imagine what a good manager could do to our squad or our overall consistency of play with players like Sanchez and Ozil not hampered by managerial mediocrity.
In your opinion, not mine. I've got no objection to Wenger being replaced, it will happen one day. I just don't think we should replace him unless we can get somebody better.
Klopp is at Liverpool. Guardiola looks like he's City bound. Ancelotti is going to Bayern. Rudi Garcia has just been sacked by Roma for a string of poor results. Simione has just signed a new contract until 2020. De Boer could be going to Swansea, personally I'd like to see what he could do in the Premier league before taking a punt. None of them are realistic targets in my opinion.
Who's we? I've been criticising the amount of points we've dropped over the past few months and how poor we've been playing (injuries aside).
That doesnt mean we shouldn't have appointed then when available. The board are substandard for more replacing a substandard manager. Christ - half the managers in the PL could finish top4 with our resources and squad.
The day will come when Wenger has to be replaced. Personally I don't think he needs to be replaced now, unless we could get somebody like Guardiola, but that doesn't look likely. I get the impression that some people think just changing him will make an instant improvement, when the evidence is that most clubs replacing long standing successful managers, tend to struggle. You only have to look at Man Utd and their troubles trying to replace Fergie. I think (hope) that Arsenal will be more considered when it comes to Wenger's replacement, rather than taking a punt.
So basically you're after unattainable targets. Who then realistically would you replace Wenger with if he was sacked tomorrow ?
