Win first... Style is just hooey. The reality is if we have a proper game and faith in our team work we should be able to beat them irrespective of the game it is. You cannot play every game of a 60 odd game season at the same level.... if we deliver the consistent base solid game each week then the higher level performance is built on it. This is our whole problem. We have no consistent base.
The opposition were only open to the counter in those games because they pushed on and tried to hold a high line.. And the best way of creating that scenario is to draw them out by dropping off......
IF we end up in extra time its due to a 1 goal deficit. If its 0-1, 1-2, 2-3 etc it goes extra time. LFC need to avoid extra time if at all possible. We cannot go play west ham who will run us off the park anyway with 120mins in our legs while they have feet up
in the directors box with the WAGS maybe... though nailing 3 wags while the team plays will be quite a feat.
I work with someone who is a Stoke season ticket holder and he is going tonight. He is nervous as well, but reckons if it is still 0-0 after 60 mins then they will win it. His dread is us getting an early goal as he reckons they will then lose their shape chasing the game.
We're winning and they're coming to our yard. Where's the optimism? One goal and we'll carve them open quite easily.
If we get a early goal it more or less kills the game doesn't it? Stoke would need three without reply
They would only need two as they would win after extra time on away goals I think. It will only go to pens if they win 1-0 after extra time.
