Small cars are (usually) more fun to drive! Bigger engines and bigger chassis make for a more comfortable ride but actually take some of the fun factor away. I've got a Honda Fit and love it. We call it the Cardis (bigger on the inside). I didn't really have much choice though. My one requirement was it had to be manual (automatics are boring to drive). There are very few cars in the US that have a manual option. Most cars only come in automatic because very few yanks know how to drive a manual. The fit had best reliability of the manual models in my price range. Its been an awesome little car. Best thing about the manual is the wife doesn't know how to drive it so it stays clean and unleashed. My last car would get trashed up on the inside every time she borrowed it.
Shermans don't do 'sticks' or corners... The suspension on Yank cars is downgraded from the European spec to something more akin to a horse and cart.
I'd pick the Fiesta or the Mazda 3 over the VW. Fiesta is more practical and the Mazda is more fun. VW are over priced and boring.
Mustangs do actually come in manual transmission. One of few cars here that do. Terrible handling though. (at least the old ones, only ones I've driven, are). Insurance is higher and really bad fuel efficiency. Honda Fit I googled is Honda Jazz in the UK. Not sure if same car exactly or just same platform. Last time I looked I narrowed it down to the Fit, Fiesta, and Mazda 3 when I was looking. (we don't have as many small cars to pick from in the US though). Ruled out the Fiesta because it didn't come in manual. Can't recall why I ended up picking the Fit over the Mazda 3. Fit is great though. Fold down the back seats and the large flat area rivals the wife's minivan... I've transported 2 kids, camping gear and a dining table at the same time.
Ford fiesta's are pure drivel. They don't compare to a golf. A ford fiesta matchs to a polo. A ford focus goes up against golf or A3 A mondeo goes up against passat or 3 series etc and so on. Anyway.... I have driven many american cars.. without question 1. automatics are piss poor. its all on or no power and gear changes are too slow 2. got a mustang auto in las vegas and thrashed it out to the hoover dam... total ****e car. very poor.. all acceleration came in a lump and was quite narrow band. 3. golfs are boring... most cars are boring.
None of Golf, Focus, Mondeo, Passat or 3 series where mentioned FFS. It was between a Fiesta, Mazda and Polo!
I mentions golf in context of A3 as did tobes so i assumed the mention of feista was in context of mentioned VW car. so fine... I'd never drive any of them cos they are at best city cars.
I walked past a lambo dealership at lunchtime. Anyone know how an Aventador compares to a Fiesta or an Ibiza?
