You're probably looking at a 4s coupè now. Got a mate who got the M version of one of those recently, nice car

Parts will cost with these cars but you're better getting them through proper channels as genuine OEM than through dodgy ass reclaimers who'll fit anything that fits etc

A3's at the age you're looking at are just Mk6 Golfs in a dress

The 1 series has always been an over priced and very ordinary car. You're paying for the badge.

Have you got £10k in cash or are you borrowing it?

    doubt it.

It will probably come down to this.

    1. federer is very unlucky to be meeting him in semi

    2. Djokovic needs to return as normal and he will win

    3. federer needs to win first 2 sets to have any hope.

    4. murray is VERY lucky with his side of the draw... he's headed for final easy. he will hope federer wins.

    all true.

the golf however was cheapened up while the A3 has the bells and whistles... at least some. The golf had an awful lot of nice stuff stripped off.

an A£ is what 15k or more higher cost new than same golf.

So after many years with a people carrier (3 kids so was needed) we don't really need such a big car anymore as the oldest will be driving soon and we simply don't travel around as much. I'm not into cars at all and just want a small car that is comfortable to drive and is cheap to run.

The in laws have a smal Peugeot and it's just awful so it's putting me off the idea, what small car would you suggest?

Aston Martin Vantage or Audi R8, the latter if you are on a budget

Not even close...the Polo is the best car of the 3 by a street.

Yeah that's what I'm reading, the Mazda is a consideration as there's not tax on it and it looks quite nice but the Polo is just a bit bigger and more comfy.

I have a VW Touran at the moment first VW I've owned and it's probably the best car I've owned.

My lad has just got a new Fiesta Zetec and he loves it. Thereagain he is not interested in cars, just wants a reliable car to get to work and enjoy his social life. His last car started making a "horrible noise" on his way home from work. Most people would have pulled over, not him, he drove another 7 miles home then asked me to have a look at it. He turned it over and it sounded like a bag of spanners being shaken very violently. Turned the engine off and asked him if he had checked the oil recently his reply "only when I bought it of Mum".....that was 2 ****ing years ago. Checked the oil and there was none, so he sold it for £40 and bought a brand new fiesta on the basis he won't need to check the oil. It turns out the oil warning light had failed on the first one so he had thought everything was ok

Ive got a Peugeot 207... I do like it and unlike most people that moan about them, I've not had 1 single problem with mine in the 5 years I've had it.

The Fiesta is a consideration especially for my oldest who wants us to get that.
