The cashcow stuff allows production companies and studios to take a risk on other projects that may or may not make any money. If Will Smith has been involved in Suicide Squad then I would think it will be okay. Deadpool will just take the piss out of itself
I didn't actually like the character but like the actor so gave it a go based on that, I really enjoyed it give it a go mate.
Yeah of course it's down to box office performance. The Nolan bat films were decent. Hyped to **** though for what they are. Got little to no interest in seeing any of the upcoming ones you mention. Got mates who go on about The Avengers like it's revelatory viewing, going seeing these films 2 times or more. Ridiculous. Think it's more the saturation around the promotion of these films I don't like, that's part of the business of money-making sure, but it ruins them. How much of the film do they need to show you before you see it ?? You can pretty much figure the film's plot out from the trailers and / or they include key moments in isolation. Kills most of the interest. No such thing as mystery or surprise anymore it's all about constant gratification of and pawing at the audience.
You're kidding right ?? WIll Smith is one of the worst piece of **** actors who has appeared in some of the worst piece of **** films over the years. I don't think he's made one decent flick. Independence Day maybe.
The only concern I have over Better Call Saul is that it's set before BB, they have to catch up and go beyond BB pretty quick as the actors are getting on and it'll look silly come a year or two. I would suggest catching up in the next season and then if there's a 3rd go beyond BB.
I got the jist of it from friends, but it would be great to see what happened to him after he went into hiding/new identity
It's massively over-hyped. It was enjoyable in that it had its moments throughout the different seasons but was always up and down and the last season was drawn out way too much because it had an over-inflated sense of itself as a TV show, or event, built up by those fan boys and girls you mentioned. So the audience effectively contributed to the ruination of what was initially an interesting narrative.
Again, you are stating your opinion (obviously), I agree, Will Smith is not one of my favourite actors, he has made a few decent films, Ali, Bad Boys, Independance Day, Enemy of the State, and A LOT of stinkers, I am Legend, Hitch, Wild Wild West, After Earth, I Robot. But the bottom line is he is a bankable name in Hollywood, for whatever reason, some people will go see a film just cause he is in it.
Couldn't agree more. Game Of Thrones is in danger of suffering from the same thing, though it hasn't quite reached that point yet. I still love it, but it needs to reel itself in.
Enemy of the state is a cracking film, Hackman is great in it but Smith tops him (in my opinion) Persuit of happyness is also a cracker. Not many actors who have not managed to have flops
I agree, the point is though, the studios don't care if he is a **** actor. If he keeps making money, he keeps getting cast in movies....and thats the sad reality. Its like Why do they keep making Human Centipede sequels? Its the most ludicrous and childish plot I have ever heard....yet they keep making money, so more sequels, same with the Scary Movie franchise, Saw, and a million other piece of **** franchises.
Smith is more 70-30, as in 70% of his movies (particularly in the last 10 years) have sucked big time.
Martin has ****ed me off and ****ed the audience over on that one so I'm officially out. They jumped on it too soon as those dollar signs started to roll around their eye sockets, i.e. before he had the series finished on the page. He's a joke as an author, how long has he been working on this latest book now, I mean come on, he's not Vladimir Nabokov, it's just a bit of fantasy fluff that anybody with a pen and a decent grasp of English could churn out with a few hard days in the office.
True true. The dollar is king I'd rather watch and have enjoyed the human centipedes way more than any ****ing Will Smith films Don't thnk there'll be another now though
Martin is the Anti-George Lucas, he is great at create characters and getting us inside their heads so we can empathise and he is great at the witty dialogue, but he is a meanderer when it comes to plot development, he meanders. Daenerys has been on her way to Westeros since the end of book one ffs. At first you thought it was going to be all about the Starks, then they are scattered and/or are killed. Then you think, okay, maybe its about the War of the Five Kings, and then oh, end of book 3, that war is all but won, so maybe you think its about the White Walkers, who made themselves known for the first time in 1000 years in the prologue of his first book......and now 5 books later....WHERE THE **** ARE THEY?? Where as George is great at setting up a plot and a fast paced story, but completely dog **** at characterisation, dialogue and getting his plot across to the viewers through exposition. If only we could somehow Breed Lucas and Martin together, to make the ultimate writer.
I'm at the point of binning it, the last season was simply terrible. I'm giving it a chance as it had been cracking up to that point.
You seem pretty negative about a lot of stuff If it is so easy then maybe you should lock yourself away in a room and construct a fantasy world with complex interlinked plot/characters
Any time someone says "X is the best show ever" they are wrong, unless X = The Wire Maybe I could make an allowance for the Sopranos or the first season of True Detective, but the Wire rules
