...it seems obvious to say at times like these, but it's totally true. How many corners are there for the squad to turn this season? We need a proven Premier League striker, this month. If not we are dead in the water. Seems strange that some of us have been banging-on about the ineptitude of the Mike Ashley era since it began and more recently more are starting to agree. Frightening then, that we can do nothing to stop the inevitable relegation that awaits. (was it a bit much?)
I suspect that we will buy this window....................... the only issue is, I think it will end up being a panic buy right at the death because the incompetent tea boy cant seem to get anything going. He still seems to think he can play this silly brinksmanship with teams that just don't need our dollar. Plus we are just not an attractive proposition for a credible, proven striker............... which is what we need. We should have gone down last season, we were truly awful. If we go down this season then the club can really have few complaints. Its 'The Structure' in full effect I'm afraid. The only shining light on relegation is that I suspect Penfold and Carr will be shown the door this time. They have consistently shown that they are woefully out of their depths and committed the cardinal sin of squandering Ashley's cash once too often. I would be amazed if he spared them this time around.
Indeed, I can't name a single "best player" that we've sold!! Say it in hushed tones, but as of yet I still don't think we'll go down. It's a weird season - for example, should we (by some miracle) turn Everton over, we would be just 5 points behind them.
The failure and problems at our football club are endemic and deep rooted. Just in case nobody knows, we are currently 10th (of 12 teams) in the 2nd (of 2) Division of the Premier League U-21's set up. Only Wolves and Brighton sit below us. At U-18 level, we're slightly better - by a solitary place, languishing in 9th (of 12) in the 2nd tier - reason I looked this up was due to our U-18's losing 5-0 at Blackburn. We are riddled with blight throughout this club, a losing mentality with Ashley pulling the strings and Lee Charnley overseeing it all. How do we get away from it? We have Cat1 status under EPPP, the new training ground is either complete or imminent and we've spent £70m+ in 5 months on players. With these facts how are the club not top 10 at least and, more importantly, as we do languish so low in every league how is nobody accountable??
Because it's Newcastle United and we don't want to progress. We are happy to collect the TV money season up on season. It has finally caught up with us.
If you're going to pretend to be a famous singer, at least have the good grace to check the spelling of his surname!
If you are going take the piss and laugh. I suggest you do some research first where you will find it was not a mistake and **** all to do with a singer. But you are only of only a few plums who have fell for it.
My comment was indeed my 'research' and i'm deeply fascinated to know the reasoning behind your name. No, really I am
No timeline on it. We haven't really sold for a while. Take cabaye and ba out of it, we haven't really sold anyone of note. Even if we include those two it's still no one we could have kept
I am starting to come round to the Captain's way of thinking and accept the fact that we are likely to get relegated. There is still plenty of time to save it but we don't seem to be able to get a run going and unfortunately I think that our players are more the type that will collapse under the pressure in March onwards.
