Good news everyone. Saints have done the exact opposite of what I've predicted so far so based on that we're going to win our next 3 games.
I actually want Man U to go on a massive winning streak now. There is no other realistic challenger to boot Spurs out of the top four. I know who I'd rather have in there.
I've got over my anti Spurs period. Right now, they play decent football, seem to try and develop the players they have rather than buy whoever is available, and they actually have some English players in the team. I'd rather see them do well over Man Utd who will no doubt soon have a new manager and will spend another £100m or so on yet another thoughtless spending spree.
Looked at the league table today, Saints form over the last 6 games ( so since Boxing Day) is w4, l2 =12 pts. Second only to spurs by 1 pt... So clearly over our mid season blip....
On the Monday Night Club they were talking about clubs who could upset the European applecart and sneak into the Top 4-6. Not one mention of Saints, though they did mention WHU. I think we could be going under the radar again.
Nine points and a pile of GD behind with four teams to pass would mark us as pretty distant longshots for the top four. That said, the Europa League applecart is on its side, the produce going off in the sun...we've seen it cracked in recent years, but moreover I'd expect that it'll be almost an annual occurrence going forward. One of the top revenue sides spending a year seventh or below barely rates a bat of the eye anymore, and Everton's no longer the primary beneficiary thereof.
Yes, we need to work on catching Spurs too. Not sure I can see it on their form, though - we may as well talk about catching City and Arsenal too.
Basically nicked our model, along with the personnel that make it work. And then prance around like they invented it. Well done Spurs!
Well, we already did it last year, re: Europe, so isn't a surprise as much. Plus we threw it away last year - should have finished fifth, so perhaps people think we would do the same again once we get close. Got to reiterate - all the better for no one to notice, as pressure is off; and no loss of face if we don't do it, and nothing but smug glory if we do.
True to a point. I've heard lots of media types talk about Spurs but I've never really heard anyone from the club banging on about it. No doubt their Not-606 page is full of it but ours isn't exactly objective!
