I don't need to remind the Spuds that you've been in a similar position before and bottled it. You only have to go back to 2012 when Spurs led Arsenal by 10 points in Feb and played us at the Emirates. They were 0-2 up in the first half before we totally humiliated them 5-2, which acted as a catalyst for them to completely bottle their lead over us and finish below us once more.

There's a long way to go this season still and lots of twists and turns ahead. Can Spurs overcome their 20 year record of finishing below Arsenal ? If they manage to do it, it would be a minor blip in the grand scheme for Arsenal, but like winning the World cup for Spurs, such is their pain at decades in our shadow. But, if Spurs start to bottle it again in similar fashion as they have before , then the question could be 'will West Ham finish above Spurs this season ?'

  3. I think most pundits would view such an event as evidence for the much-debated shift in North London, and a sign of things to come.

Dreadfully tame wumming, even by your famously low standards, Pixie!

We've clearly got a manager who is going to keep us in contention for top 4 for many several seasons. However, when Wenger does eventually go - and he cannot go on for much longer - the problem in staying above, not only the Spanners, but also the likes of Stoke, 'Pool, and perhaps even Palace, year in and year out as you go round and round the managerial merry-go-round, is going to be a massie challenge for AFC. Mark my words.

You'd have to consistently finish above us for two decades, maintain your top 4 position, win 3 titles, 6 FA cups and get to the champions league final before you can claim a power shift.

    No they wouldn't.

How is **** you accomplished 10 years ago relevant to the shift of power now?
Don't get me wrong, It hasn't shifted, Arsenal are still better, but your league titles and CL final from a decade ago or more are irrelevant.

If you are claiming they would need to win x amount of titles and FA cups etc, to have a better overall trophy haul than you, then yes.
But Villa and Everton have won far more league titles than City, does that mean City have to win another half dozen league titles before they are deemed better than Villa?
Sounds stupid when you put it like that doesnt it?

    Very true!

In reality, though, Bodi, Pixie's knee-jerk reaction is exactly the same as every other Gooner I've spoken to about this. Secretly, they know that a shift is coming and that they are probably going to rest in our shadow for some time, and the only way they can cope with that knowledge and the inutterable fear and loathing that it instills deep in their hearts is by convincing themselves that, notwithstanding the fact that we will have overtaken them, somehow we would not, in reality be better than them - even though we clearly can demonstrate that we are! It's a perverse logic, but one that I can understand Gooners desparately clinging to.

  10. That has never prevented Pixie from putting his foot in his mouth, to be fair.

  12. Better for now, I think is the most accurate way of putting it, Pixie.

What I'm saying here is that there is still a long way to go this season. HIAG is here mouthing off because Arsenal lost, but it could turn out to be yet another case of premature ejaculation from chipolata boy.

I'm getting concerned that Spurs may have a chance of winning it. HAIG would be unbearable.

... the guy has been inspirational for us ... although I wince whenever the TV companies show the slow motion edits ... he seems to get away with murder ... one thing for sure - 'hard man' Diego of the Bridge makes himself rather scarce rather quickly when Huth and Big Wes look to take issue with him ...
