Hey Listen, I will readily admit to having my favourites or people I'm quick to criticise. A perfect example was Glen Johnson. As each year went by I rated him less despite different managers making him first pick. I stopped seeing anything good he did and only the bad. I still believe I was right and he eventually went. but I understood there were other reasons a manager may pick a guy other than just his performance..lack of finding a replacement or an injury to a potential replacement or even he's one of the highest earners and its hard to justify him watching from the bench. Downing was another one. I also watched people defend Gerrard for longer than I thought due for varying reasons..past exploits which is a reason I'll always disagree with and set up by manager which I'll more readily accept. I said with Klopp all existing players will get a clean slate and I'll judge them on the ability to adapt to his style and instruction. I still think its too early to judge. Some will pick it up quicker than others and yes, some will fail to make the grade. What I won't do or try very hard not to do is colour my in match judgement on what way they played last year or because another manager bought them. They are Klopps players now. He's made it very clear his first act is not going to be looking for new players, at least not in this transfer window. He insist he wants to work with this lot. How about we trust him to make the call?
Exactly, judge the player and not the reputation or opinion you've built of them. Johnson, Gerrard and co were good / great but declined. It happens. Kuyt, Hendo, Lucas etc were poor but got better. It happens. I judge players on the game they've played. You're only as good as the last game. Obviously, this doesn't apply to Mario or Flanno (for differing reasons) though
Yep - silly mistakes are what's costing us at the moment. We seemed to have stemmed the flow of goals and have more shape and structure. A couple of upgrades should do the trick.
Klopp is doing the right thing. He's not criticising players in public or throwing them under the bus like Rodgers. We're trying to keep value high as opposed to saying a player is **** and we want to sell him.
Jimmy you are completely right He said he is not buying any player in January too, and I know he is being clever .
On Wednesday our defence is going to be tested to the limit...Toure's legs are gone. Sakho not fully fit. Ilori has not been playing regularly. Who else??.
I was listening to Talksport on my way home last night and the main topic of conversation was us signing Caulker on loan. One caller who rang in about it wasn't particularly happy but he did come up with another suggestion. He said since its short term, why hadn't we just given Gerrard and contract until the end of the season with the understanding that he would be asked to play CB whilst we had injuries etc. Now, I don't think Gerrard would ever go for it, nor do I think Klopp would. Nor is it something I'd have liked to see happen. However, he does know the club and most of the players, plus he is a known leader at LFC too. Just wondered what others thought about this idea?
God no, please not Gerrard. The man couldn't defend as a DM, there is no way he could do it as a CB. In addition, he couldn't defend in the MLS. People need to get over Gerrard - he's been past it for 5 years.
I cannot believe we conceded four goals against relegation fighting Norwich. Moreno should register to play rugby
We were woeful so we have to see the 5 goals scored as them being worse than us too. At least 3 of our goals should never have happened. The 4th and 5th were so stupid by them. Henderson looked a bit of a flog too and Firmino's second was good by us but they played everyone onside so.... It was a really flog of a game.... glad we came out on top but we really need to sort this out.
