The best squad in the league will finish top and that's us, I can see us finishing becoming a West Brom sort of team now.
Have correctly predicted in January in 2 previous Championship campaigns that we would be promoted. Have already said we will be promoted again this season. Believe me!
Was it only 4 weeks ago that this Forum was full of doom and gloom and all the "sack Bruce" calls were predominant? As then, we are on track for promotion - no more no less - and it will go down to the last match of the season. Enjoy the ride!
I called for his head multiple times and I stick by it. I have always thought we would be promoted this season and so we bloody should. This squad is far and away better then any other team in this league and anything but automatic should be regarded as failure. I also stick by what I said regarding any decent manager with the players we have at our disposal would be in the same position. But here is my issue with Steve Bruce. 1. We should never have been relegated with the team we had last season 2. He has been a manager for many many years and has always made the same mistakes and not learnt by them. (ask the Wigan, Crystal Palace, Birmingham and Sunderland fans) 3. I have no confidence in him keeping us in the premier league when we go up and that's the problem. West Brom learnt that with Mowbray, was excellent at getting them back into the premier league but not good enough to keep them there and that is the catogory that Steve Bruce falls under
Nonsense. Steve Bruce has kept Birmingham up. He's kept Wigan up. He's kept Sunderland up. He's kept us up. He has a proven track record of keepng teams up in the top flight, so to say he's not good enough is far wide of the mark.
It would be pretty dramatic if we didn't, we ought to but wouldn't surprise me if we finished third and suffered through playoffs
End of Feb will be a much better time to judge, if we can somehow go on an even better run and create a gap, i don' think others could catch up... if there's still a hand full of points between autos and playoffs by start of March then I'm not so sure
Not wanting to sound pessimistic but anyone else surprised when they see the table? The innate doubts that come with being a city fan are hard to shake off. Considering we still manage to moan every so often and we under performed a lot it's quite surprising we are not only top but also the highest scores in the league and the second best defence... really doesn't feel that way. To think of the silly losses we've had also, the ridiculous winner at charlton, pathetic losses to rotherham and preston... we maybe should be well clear
Put it this way. Only Hull City can STOP Hull City going up as champions. We have the best squad of players in the championship. M'Boro manager Karanka must have been on crack with his post match comments. Brighton have Derby @ home and Middlesboro away as there last 2 games. We have by far the easiest (on paper) last 3 games. The Bolton away game could have us facing a team containing the tea lady, 2 programme sellers and a ball boy the way Bolton are going atm.
£100m plus.? It depends on just how much the overseas rights have come in at for the precise amount. However, the PL have now announced that the ""3"" promoted clubs will get their first instalment a month before the rest do. To help with promotion bonuses and new signings.
Do Boro deserve to be such favourites? They went on a good run but considering we battered them I'm not quite sure why they're huge favourites to be champions. 8/11 vs our 7/2 ...
I find that on any club's form you always get this 'our team naturally messes things up' idea. Nothing specific about Hull City. I just think this division isn't that good, it's hard to purchase real quality at this level, particularly strikers. I can see there's dissatisfaction at various clubs (including Middlesborough and Brighton) about their striking options. At the start of the season we may have wondered if we were a bit light up front, but it turns out quite a few others are anyway, so that weakness evens out. To get promoted we probably don't even have to be at our best.
