Yeah, that's how I've always understood it to be, but I've not managed to get in touch with my mate to check his claim.
OK I need clarification here as I am confused (probably not for the first time) all this love fest for Bowie when I always thought that he dumped on Ronson and co big time and the Hull lads never got the recognition that they deserved, so whats the proper story?
If I played guitar in a successful band! I'd make sure I got the recognition! I wouldn't rely on the lead singer to do it for me! Obviously it's not as clear cut as that! bit that's how I see it!
He dumped on Trevor and Woody, but Ronson carried on working with him on and off until he died. Trevor was a bit bitter, but was very proud of his work with the Spiders From Mars and was very chuffed when Bowie called him just before he died.
David Bowie walking in New York; his right hand holds a copy of Uncut magazine and a CD of Highway 61 Revisited, whilst his left hand gives 'the finger'. please log in to view this image
Was bored this afternoon so created this. Comprised solely of Bowie samples (11 in total). Anyone think they can name all 11?
My drunken brain can only work out 7 so far (if they're right), in no order: Life on Mars Changes Ashes to Ashes Rock n Roll Suicide Hang On to Yourself China Girl Modern Love Will work the rest out later.
One of Bowie's demo tapes has just been discovered in an attic somewhere. Got a spare 10 grand Quill ?
I remember Bowie visiting a record shop in Gypsyville (owned by Trevor Bolder’s dad??) with Trevor in early 70s and it being a secret/low profile occasion but when he arrived there was a big crowd. Not sure if it was around the time they played Brid Spa or earlier.
