The point is that we have not been top at the end of the season for over ten years now and on current form barely look like it. Prior to the Chelsea game today I thought all might not be lost considering we have Sanchez and Ozil due to return. However our problems appear to be the same on a yearly basis and their repetition means that the underlying issues are never resolved. That is why I think we flatter to deceive. Under this management this would seem to be the case. Don't get me wrong, I think Wenger has achieved much with us but that was a woefully long time ago. The FA Cup? Well, that's nothing but a consolation prize, is it not? Arsenal are a club that should be going for titles. We have the means to acquire the players with whom to mount a serious title challenge yearly BUT that we don't is disappointing. Thus, the underlying causes must go. Wenger must go, so must our owner and lacklustre board. Sadly, money talks at Arsenal so you can bet they'll continue, as will our woes.

Nice list. Thank you for sharing BUT a calendar year means nothing since the league season is August to May not January to December.....

We could still win the league this season mate. Would you still throw out the manager and board then ?

By then you could also then say in the summer that 'we could still win the league in 2016/17. Would you still throw out the manager and board then?'

We need a board and manager with ambition and balls. Wenger's comments last summer proved be had no ambition.

My question was, if we win the league this season, would he (and you?) still want to see the manager and board sacked ?

    Who do you support?

I'm not going to stop having high expectations because some lower level teams cherish the fa cup

Sacked? Meh... I wouldn't sack him at all as it's a bit harsh on a 2000s legend. Offered a contact extension? Hell no. We can bear his mediocrity for one more season.

Whether he wins the league or not this year is irrelevant. (And if we win then it will be frankly embarrassing for the rest if we can win a league with some of the dross we've served this season). In the grand scheme of things, nowadays his squad building is poor and his attempts in Europe are useless.

I just don't get all the negativity, sure you lost today but you're still up there.

The negativity is because expectations of some fans are higher than others. And inevitable conflict arises when these two sets of fans converse textually on a forum. Those with higher expectations are labelled doom mongers. Those with lower expectations are labelled Wengerites.

What do you expect from West Ham this season? If West Ham dropped below your expectation this season, lost most of the rest their games, played poor football and finished 17th.... what would you say to a Bolton fan who simply said, "I don't get your moaning, you're still in the premier league'

You are 3 points off the top with 15 games to go, you are in the 4th round of the fa cup and the last 16 of the CL...that's why the moaning is weird

Why? People should love a trophy out of tradition simply because everyone else does and you feel obliged to because you think it makes you sound a 'true fan'? The FA cup only has magic when magical things happen in it. It isn't magical by default.

Nothing wrong with high expectations, as long as you can handle the reality of the situation.

Every time your team takes to the field there are 11 other professionals doing their best to beat them, the fact is , sometimes they manage it.
