A sense of horror rises in Victor, then he laughs nervously. The agent sighs, unwittingly snaps his pencil, and begins a slow decent to lie crumpled in a ball on the ground...as he dissolves into sulfurous ash, a ghostly deathrattle croaks pleadingly, "thiiiinnnnk of the moneeeeeeey"

"***k that s***", smiles Victor while seeing a younger version of himself, surrounded by friends playing football on the streets of Nairobi.

I love it and the Italians. Great people. Its an easy country to get around and the food is great. The further south you go the crazier their driving is. The very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov and I have travelled all over Italy over the years and loved every moment. The only problem is that I wish my Italian was as good as my French.

My cousin Ricardo says that the worst people in Europe are Italians, and like me he's half Italian himself. He says that Italians are superficial, vain and without an ounce of integrity. Who knew? :)

My cousin Ricardo [again] has a very good range of European languages at his command. His French and Dutch, for example, are better than his Italian, and he grew up with Italian spoken in his household, so he speaks that like a native. My Mum banned Italian in our house when we were growing up, much to my regret, so these days I occasionally have a half-hearted go at learning the lingo. My French is conversational by the time I get to the end of holidays in France, and I'd settle for that with Italian, these days. One method that was put before me just the other day was the entirely free Duolingo. [<- click the link if you're interested]

The only time someone tried to mug me was in Italy....I scared the living daylights out of him by bending his fingers back until he was forced to let go of my bag. I was too furious to show much sense....luckily they both ran off.

There you go. Actually, I forgot about my cousin's view of the Spanish. It's not a good one.

You may think he doesn't have a good word for anyone. Well, he loves the French, the Dutch and the Swedish. I think his favourites are the Dutch and that has nothing to do with the present incumbent at Saints, because Ric doesn't follow sport of any kind. He just thinks the Dutch are superbly laid back people who view most of life's priorities in the right perspective, and that they generally call a spade a spade. I think we recognise that in our manager, don't we? :)

Not always sensible though....but I don't back down. One night we thought we had burglars....I ran downstairs while my husband froze...luckily something had just fallen over.

Used to regularly visit Italy with work (mainly Milan and Bologna). My tip - go to a transport cafe for lunch, not a castle - same good food - 3 Euros not 100 Euros (and spag bol in Bologne doesn't have any minced beef in it)

Love the Bolognese. But I haven't come across a meatless one as of yet, it's usually with pancetta and ground beef...the surprising ingredient often being a splash of milk. I think it's a regionally registered recipe.

The Dutch are incredibly stubborn imho. Brother in law is Dutch and a really nice laid back bloke as long as things are going his way. His family are the same. Appear laid back etc, but will power beyond belief. Not to be messed with. His daughter is 14, it's like a war zone for my poor eldest sister trying to keep the peace!
