Cool, trying to persuade the missus to go as I haven't been for a few years now. She went when she was young but I know the little one would love it. Missus just loves sun! You ever done Bulgaria?

 

I've been to Pamporovo twice and loved it. Good selection of runs and not too busy. Limited number of very difficult expert runs but lots of well used 'off-pise' sections betwen runs that keeps it interesting for any level of skier. Its been 10 years since I was there, so don't know how much it has changed, but on what I experienced I'd totally recommend it!

Someone recommended it recently and said it was worth looking at for the money. I'm just thinking that for her first for some time I might try to do budget rather blow a **** load and find she is just not having it. I have no such worries with the little one, she is mad as a box of frogs and loves anything that resembles a challenge.

May need a skiing thread to stop this derailing the Prediction!

 

I can only speak for when I was there, but it was the perfect place to learn. My ex finally persuaded me to go on a skiing holiday and bought lessons as part of the package. I got loads of really good tuition in small groups, and with it not being too busy there was plenty of room to practice safely too. There is also a really long green run that goes all the way from the summit to the base, so the lessons are varied and not stuck on nursery slopes. By the end of the week the instructor had taken us all down a blue run and a few of us down a red run. The cafes are nicely spaced out too so for those who are not used to long runs you can break it up. None of the lift queues were particularly long either.

The downsides are that it can get very very cold. It was hitting -30 at the summit when we were there. Not a big issue unless you're struggling to get going and don't keep moving. It wasn't a resort for apres-ski, but it was nice enough for a couple. The food was a bit bland (and you have to like chicken), but it was warm and filled a hole.
