The chairman accepted relegation when he said the words... "You know who I think would be a great manager for us... Steve McLaren", I just accepted his acceptance
Do you think the result had anything at all to do with the fact that Watford were by far the best team ?
It's got sod all to do with the officials, the pitch, the ball boys or the alignment of the bloody planets. A good set of players would be able to look at the pitch when they're warming up and then work out what's not going to work. If after a few stretches it hasn't sunk home then a few passes with the ball whilst they're still out there may give them a bit of a clue. And if that didn't help to drive the point home the first five minutes of the match should. And if then the players don't get the picture then they can't be considered a decent set of players at all. Second goal with the brains still browsing through the half-time Ferrari catalogues: it is completely unacceptable for the players not to return to the pitch switched on or to turn off in the last five minutes of the match. If this didn't happen time and time again and with the added scenario of the defence constantly falling apart/asleep during the game then there is only one direction in which the finger of blame should point. Towards the players. It's got nothing to do with the manager having to have to remind the players in training or the owners but the players own attitude and a lack of leadership on the pitch where the captain should be saying to the team, "Lads, this isn't working. We've got to do something different". This is the captain's job on the pitch on the day and no-one else's. But Newcastle don't appear to have a captain at the moment. In fact they seem to have a tradition of choosing someone who isn't suitable such as Owen and now whomever Mr Anonymous is. And to the game this Saturday. Well done, Watford. The better team won. No-one should claim that Newcastle were robbed.
ok ..well our defence has never been great ..( i cant remember when we ever had a good defence ) anyway at the start of the season .i put up a thread saying defence is more important and should be where we start , from the back . i can sort of see your point of they were at fault yesterday . and the colo thing .( walking back ) which didnt lead to anything . does not look good . as for watford were they much better , maybe in spells but we had lots of chances so they no way bossed this game it could of went either way .in my eyes lastly my friend .i get peeded off big style when refs and linesman just cant do jobs proper ..they got it wrong again ..did the mistake have a bearing on the result well yes it did .... belive me if it was watford that lost they be hell on ....so why would we be any different . seems sometimes we rather just blame ourselves than actually put pressure on these incompetent officals . ( fergie use to do this and good on him ) if i kept on doing mistakes at work well im sure i would be sacked .. anyway just my view
Leez. I do have a lot of sympathy with what you say. For a start there's evidence of corruption in the game. Fergie Time, in my view, is a consequence of this. In the Far East the betting syndicates will be piling money onto what is traditionally known as the Top Four and it surprises me not that extra time is given in favour of these big clubs by fair means or foul. Secondly, it is in the interests of the FA itself to make sure that the traditional Big Four win more than they lose. Little laddio in the Philippines is more likely to buy an FA Licensed shirt with the Manchester United crest on it if they do well the season before. The FA control the marketing of the Premier League, they control the sale to the television companies, they control the licence to the merchandising and they, oddly enough, control the match officials. Whenever I see decisions go, in the long term, for the Big Four I don't look at those teams but towards those at the Football Association. I'm involved in the gambling business and I always advise people not to get involved with greyhounds. Why? Because the bigger races are BAGS races (the B stands for Bookmakers), which are run in stadiums owned by bookmakers. The dogs are trained at the locations by the bookmakers and the bookmakers are, well, the bookmakers. Is it any reason to wonder that greyhounds aren't run on a level playing field? However, Watford, with all respect due, are not top four. These are the teams which Newcastle should be going out to try to beat.
You wont find many on here who would argue that you haven't deserved to win both league games because you were the better team. The one game we've played ok in, and may have deserved to get something from, was the cup game which wasn't even against your best side. We are in the position we are because we deserve to be there. Despite investing a hell of a lot of money, we still haven't addressed issues like no defensive cover for injuries and not having a proven PL goalscorer on our books. If you want to get into a discussion about the effect of government policies on this region, and the knock on effects of a lack of investment compared to other regions then it could turn into a very long thread. However, that would be to distract from the real reasons our club is in trouble. Regardless of whether your lot have played on this pitch once or a hundred times, you coped with the conditions better than our players did on the day. That is nothing but a positive reflection of your team and players, and a sad reflection of our inability to adapt when things don't go according to plan.
Don't worry Everton, even if you lose to Swansea at home...we'll be coming to town and you can thump us 3-0.
No need to worry, as we continue to put in terrific performances like yesterday, we will be fine. As long as we have McClaren who is living in the realm of fantasy we are screwed.

The only thing that mattered yesterday was the result, f*** all else. Did we lose again, YES, Did we play OK - Does it matter, when we lose yet again. FFS stop being patronising toward Watford, after Three Defeats to them, its fairly obvious, they're doing many things better than us. Better Manager/Coach it would appear, with a pair of strikers, we can only dream of...
Pitch - same for both sides, move on. Officials - of course impacted on the game but you get good and bad decisions. It did not decide the result, we had plenty of time to dig ourselves out. Overall - The better side won and we deserved **** all.
