Mike Ashley wants pace and lots of it.

Berbatov has struggled in more previous seasons and most of his goals this season have been tap-ins against weaker opposition. Maybe with the exception of one of the goals against us.

His lack of pace has annoyed Ferguson to the extent that he was dropped towards the end of the season with Owen more favored for the bench because he still does have an occasional ounce of pace in him

It was painfully obvious for all to see and Berbatov's lack of pace was being out-weighed by the class strikers such as Rooney and Hernandez, both with great amounts of pace which opposition simply could not handle.

I hate to say as a Liverpool fan, but UNited did well last season because all the great amount of pace they had

  6. I'd say Barton is under rated. Anyone with a brain would see that Barton was the main source of creativity in the squad.

I just can't believe that that fat **** wouldn't offer him a good contract. He's in great shape and is committed to the club and loves it. Mike Ashley obviously doesn't care about loyalty, or he tried to exploit that by implying that "if Barton really loves the club he'll sign any contract he's given".

fine then I will change has annoyed to has obviously annoyed. <doh>

Why did you think Berbatov got dropped towards the end of the season?

Because he scored goals (although mainly not good ones) yet was getting slower and slower due to evident tiredness as the season went on

So Fergie dropped him because he wasn't scoring great goals and that he was getting slower?!

    You know absolutely nothing!<laugh>

Yet you do not give a reason?

The main was the lack of pace and he would have been more overwhelmed against the quick Barcelona side than any of the other players (with exceptions to maybe Park and Giggs who at least have other attributes)

Also Hernandez's great form has been down to his quick movement and agility to complement his agility

Talking of quick players, Routledge seems to have joined the TwitterTruths(AboutNewcastle) revolution.

Fergie dropped Berbatov due to Rooney and Javier's partnership which grew and grew as the season went on and became more effective than the Rooney and Berbatov partnership, not because Berbatov was slow <doh>

Wouldn't you be better off singing the praises of Man Utd and Fergie on the MAN UTD board?

The partnership failed because Berbatov can not keep up with Rooney's pace whereas Hernandez could complement it <doh>

    It did.

And in doing so it slowed Man United's game down thus leading to a negative effect.

    Utter crap!

    Rooney & Berbatov
    Games played together: 20
    Goals scored: 24

    Rooney & Hernandez
    Games played together: 20
    Goals scored: 11

And if you look at the opposition involved it is quite clear that the Rooney Berbatov partnership was up against by far inferior opposition.

One of those being Liverpool when we were dreadful and lacking in Any speed whatsoever under Woy Hodgson
