As you are an even-handed football fan, yes you are. As I've mentioned many a time, I'm not a football fan. I'm a Saints fan. Any interest I register outside of Saints actually surprises me when it happens. Sometimes I find it slightly weird that other Saints fans can get wrapped up in other teams doings. Then I have to remember - they're football fans.

As you've edited this to put the bottom comment on it, I'll join in on that. How much of Gascoigne did you see? Like MLT, he was a precocious talent, an exceptional talent and probably the only player we had at that time that one could argue could touch Matty.

You have already stated your comment is entirely biased, but trying to be unbiased about it, Gascoigne was hardly a plodder compared to Matty. Both geniuses.

Don't make this a stick to beat me with FLT. I don't care enough about Bamber Gascoigne to bother. Great player, no doubt. But in my opinion, not a genius. Can we leave it there.?

    Let's talk about Saints.! :)

In that case then TSS, you should perhaps not pull people up when they make a comparison to something non-Saints, particularly if you've not really seen much of that other one, or not grasped the point that (in this case) the goal was very similar to a Gazza goal. Nothing in that comparison was Tom getting wrapped up in another team or player, just pointing out the obvious and very appropriate comparison.

I'd already replied to your other one. Yes I'll leave it there, but one last thing TSS, it is hardly using it as a sticky to beat you with. You know as well as anyone that if you post an opinion, particularly one that questions what someone else posted, you should accept that people may come back on that post/opinion.

    I'll leave it there now.

I have to give you two credit. I pick arguments a lot when we lose and things aren't going so well, but you manage to have an argument after we beat Man United at Old Trafford. Very impressive. :D

I have been thinking that Tony Pulis' demeanour in interviews over the last couple of weeks has been poor. Seems a man not comfortable and perhaps running out of ideas. He hasn't wanted to take responsibility for anything recently.

On the Gazza vs LeTiss debate, I kind of agree with TSS. I would say Gazza was about 50% the genius LeTiss was. What marked Gazza out was he was tenacious with it. He had more of an all round game. LeTiss was 99% inspiration, 1% perspiration. Gazza was a bit of both. They were both magical players, but I would never have swopped them - as ours was that bit more magical!

That's fine. There wasn't really a debate about them though.

I find it hard watching Spuds these days. It's not that Pochettino has them looking like a great side, or the youthful flair of players like Ali, but more the continual silent brick wall that seems to stop whatever is thrown at him. He's called Toby and I'd just like to see him balls up now and then :)

i would say the goal was more Le Tiss than Gazza. The finesse flick probably tending towards Gazza but the ferocious swivel and volley from outside the area was LT all over.

Sounds like about a bit of both then, eh? It certainly was a quality goal, right up then in quality with Gascoigne against Scotland and Le Tiss' goal. Appropriate to compare to either.

I thought it a bit like Charlie Austin's goal against us last year, or Pellè's in the same game. To widen the debate up a bit, isn't it nice to see professional footballers who do very little but train and play football, able to use both their feet?
