I been taking a look on the Plymouth fans forum and I can see they have sold out the away end straight away and some have managed to get tickets for our home end. Hopefully they wont cause trouble and stay quiet but every club do have idiots.

Although I won't be one of them I'm with you Captain Jack. In all of my years of watching my football club play I have never managed to fall out with an opposing supporter although I have had words with one or two of our own at times. I even got in a car at the end of my street a few years back and showed three Bristol supporter the way to the ground one Tuesday evening. You should be able to stand next to anyone at a match and have a laugh and joke without wanting to kill them. Sadly as you say all clubs have them though. It's only a football match and Bill Shankley was wrong it isn't more important than life or death. I hope it's a good match and the idiots stay in the Asylum.

It would be great if fans could sit or in our case stand (no laughing at the back please), amongst each other instead of being segregated. It happened a few times last season for us when visiting many non league grounds (again no laughing at the back please). I personally have no issues with away fans being in the home end. If the away end is full, I would rather us allow away fans into the home to get the place full and not leave parts of the ground with lots of free space and many away fans left at home missing out. Seems stupid to me. I just hope that any away fans dont do or say something stupid because we have idiots too. I wouldnt wear your colours and wouldnt cheer if you score. Just come and enjoy the game and celebrate when you leave <laugh> Personally, if I had Plymouth fans next to me, I would rather they tell me so we could have some banter during the game. If it was me I would say something as soon as I get there and tell a few people around me that im Plymouth but come in peace, would come acroos friendly and complimentry (suck up <laugh>) wont cause any trouble and will be quiet. I think you would respect that way.

    :emoticon-0148-yes:

Standing is the only way to watch football rather than all this must sit in rows and not move. I can't get close enough to "advise the Ref" where I have to sit and he clearly often needs the advice. Besides that at my age it playes havoc with the emerods!!

I can remember back in the dark ages about 1980ish going to Plymouth for the day and taking the mother in law with us for a ride out. When we arrived I just commented that Rovers were playing Plymouth that day and was duly sent packing to watch the match. Not knowing where or how to get to the ground I approached 3 Plymouth supporters who asked if I would like to join them on the bus to the ground. We lost the match 3-1 and they were happy and I wasn't but when we got on the bus to return to the city centre the bus driver had the radio on for the football scores and when the Plymouth score was given out they all turned round towards me and cheered and I was invited back if I could guarantee that type of performance in future. Good banter and friendliness no win

We nearly always get away fans standing with home fans with these sorts of derbies. I've always noticed it anyway...

Whats the bets this game ends 3-2 to Plymouth and we go 2-0 in the 1st half. Usually happens in this game when we are at home!

The 2nd time it happened, at half time being 2-0 up I had that funny feeling that Plymouth were going to come back and win. I said to the guys I was with that I had that funny feeling. I made a bet with them because they didnt believe it was going to happen. The bet was that if they win 3-2, they all would have to buy me my drinks and food for the next game. It was specific that it had to be 3-2. Not any other scoreline. They accepted. At 2-1 they were still confident. At 2-2 they gave me such horrible looks blaming me for what was going on. At 3-2 down, although I was fuming at what just happened, I winked at the guys next to me letting them know I was right! <laugh> They were not impressed!

Don't have issues with the Ref Captain Jack? You must be kidding we haven't had a penalty since last April either home or away. You must know the Refs we get. They are Blind Pew who sees nothing from anywhere on the pitch and his able assistant Long John Silver who never keeps up with play. The standard in this league is terrible.:emoticon-0103-cool::emoticon-0113-sleep:headbang: (the last one is me at most home games)

Just because you havent had a penalty since April doesnt mean you should get a penalty every game ;) maybe all the teams playing you just let you score (hence top of the league) instead of bringing you down for a pen :)

By the way, thanks for that late penalty earlier in the season when we drew 1-1 <whistle><laugh>

Oh and if you think league 2 officals are bad, you should have seen the numpties in non league last season that we had to deal with. Trust me, you havent seen anything yet! They make league 2 refs look champions league level!

Some comments from DC on Plymouth:
"Plymouth are a side with dangerous players and are capable of playing good football, but we haven't prepared any differently. It is the next game with three points on offer and that is where we are at. The opposition is immaterial really because we respect everyone in the same way and we just go about our business in the same way. We've done our homework and we know what strengths Plymouth have that we have to guard against and we also know they have weaknesses that we will look to exploit, as we would do any other team. Liam Lawrence is still struggling with a calf strain and could miss out, while James Clarke is also considered a serious concern due to illness."

Some interesting comments on this thread. It brings back memories of the days at Eastville. In my early days watching the Gas the Rovers always played attacking football and it was one of the best features of Eastville that you could walk round inside the ground and change ends from the Tote to the high Open terrace at the other end or visa versa. Away fans tended to gather at the Open end and I always chatted to them about our teams and how we felt about them. Crowd trouble wasn't really in the news much in those days in fact it was considered polite to clap the other side when they scored a goal! If I remember correctly the earliest aggressive crowds with organised gangs looking for trouble started at Millwall, Chelsea, Leeds and possibly South of the River here.
On another point. I have been to away games where the Gas have taken up the allocated space. Just go into home territory. Keep discreet and your trap shut!

DC on Plymouth. He aint giving anything way about what sort of signing he may be looking for and not giving away any contract details.

Really didn't want to talk about contracts and transfers did he, I know he said that Harrison was only going for a month but I wondered if it was a case of we will have a good look at him here and go from there, so is there a possibility that Harrison is on his way out

Hope everyone behaved today. Think most of us would take a 1 - 1 before kick off so seemed like a fair result. To return the complement Captain Jack thanks for the late equaliser for us this time round<laugh>

Can somebody tell me why Gaffney's goal was ruled out please. Had a Plymouth fan stood just behind me today had some good conversation with him and he reckons that we are the form team and will fill one of the top three places. thought a draw was a fair result today though I think Plymouth were the most physical team we have seen at the Mem this season

    Flipping typical wasnt it <grr>

    Game at Plymouth 1-1
    Plymouth scored 85 mins
    Rovers scored 91 mins

    Game today 1-1
    Rovers scored 79 mins
    Plymouth scored 88 mins

ps, I didnt see any trouble today. I didnt see any Plymouth shirts/colours either. So if they were around me, they didnt make themselves known <ok>

Offside I think. Could be wrong though. Just a guess.

I think a draw was fair. Plymouth were slightly the better side overall but we had the better chances even though they hit the woodwork. I though Lines had a good 2nd half. If only he scored a few minutes before Plymouth levelled. We have proved we can mix it with the top teams. I would have taken a draw today before kick off but im disappointed because we lost the win right at the end. Its like a double disappointment as well because Oxford won. If we had won, we would have pulled clear of Portsmouth, would still be 1 win away from 3rd and teams who are below us who have games in hand would find it a little more harder to catch us. Now we could drop to 7th if the teams below win those games.
