High percentage? I would say 2 at the most, though with the amount of fans we have these days, 2 probably does constitute a high percentage :)

Indeed. It's a shame you've lost some eloquent posters over the years. Used to discuss lots of things with District when we were both students.

Still, we have Ossie and his random insult generator to see us through the winter.

You used to say I acted as though my **** doesn't stink because I'd rather engage in some football chat than trade inane insults. I'm many things, but not puerile.

I'm all ears. What is the trait I and maybe all graduates share?

Not all, but a lot think they are way more intelligent than anyone else. Heads up their arses.

I guess it depends on how you define intelligence but I'd consider myself more intelligent than most, certainly not anyone. Plenty of people who didn't go to uni think they are more intelligent than everyone else too- often those who feel a need to try and put down students.

I rate myself of average intelligence. Your post pretty much proves my point though.

It doesn't prove anything. One less than half the population is more intelligent than most so it's hardly an arrogant claim. There are plenty of thick students and there are plenty of intelligent people who didn't get much of a formal education. A good education helps, but it's not the most important thing. You seem to have a bit of a chip on your shoulder about me and/or students though I'm not sure why.

Not at all. Personally, people I have known throughout my life that have gone to uni have tended to be that way. People I know that didn't go seem to be a lot more grounded. I haven't got a chip on my shoulder about you but, let's face it, we have both declared that we think each other are knobs.

Fair point. I think that was more true of students in your generation when it was more of an exclusive club. Now that any teenager and his dog can go and do Media Studies at Bolton Met, it's not really true any more except at the top, top unis but you have to be more intelligent than the vast majority to go to those in the first place, academically at least.

Fair shout. It was only the real top students that went to uni. As you say, anyone goes now.

Not so much where I went. We were all the children of Lords and Knights, laughing at the poor.

Indeed, in my day only around 13% of school leavers went on to higher education. Tony the murder Blair changed all that with his after school club, (university) to hide the extremely large figures of unemployed school leavers.

Most of these so called intelligent club members spend three years rolling around university cities blind drunk. Being a member of this so called elite is not a sign of intellect but more of a member of a work shy lazy generation.

Indeed some of the "graduates" that I currently work with don't even know what their course was about. Media studies seems to be the favourite course.
