Yeah I've given Slaves a bit of a listen. I loved Radiohead until they lost the plot too. Muse is a good shout ACS.
Clash, Velvet underground, pixies, eels, primal scream, dearh in vegas, spaceman 3, any blind lemon merangue pie type guitar delta blues Gotta love a bit of psychobilly too ..cramps Seem to be going through an obscure electro trip hop type groove atm Didnt realise damned and rezillos etc where still knocking about .. are crass still going?
Aside from Brit and Irish Bands. The Ramones, I just wish they'd stop playing Blitzkreig Bop, before kick-off. Sweden, possibly the best for Indie Music recently.
There's a group called Vant playing at the Cluny in April (£6.50 a ticket). The BBC reckon they will be "huge"....really worth a punt at that price. I like this, very promising.
Huge Rush fan here and have been since the seventies. Also a great fan of Deep Purple (Mk I & II). My best recent gigs was to watch Albert Lee at Caernarfon where for the past four years have managed to get front row dead centre tickets. Best festival? Reading 1980. No other line-up can ever come close and can never be repeated.
From memory. Headlined by Whitesnake in their best early phases. Iron Maiden with Paul Dianno as Bruce turned up with his band, Samson. Gillan was there, so were Def Leppard. The late great Rory Gallagher was fantastic as ever. Osbourne cancelled at the last minute and were replaced by Slade who made that gig their comeback. Pat Travers was good. I enjoyed Tygers of Pan tang and can't remember if Sykes was with them then. And one of my favourite estuary r&b bands, Nine Below Zero tore the place apart one afternoon (Mark Feltham later joined Gallagher's band and I caught them together on their last tour in a small hall in a village in the middle of Belgium). One of my favourite 'loon' bands, Trimmer & Jenkins, livened up another afternoon crowd and I do remember their rendition of "I've just had a heart attack". And it didn't rain.
Nine Below Zero, still going well, and playing a good set. Well impressed, when I've seen them in recent years. Hopefully, they'll be supporting From The Jam again at the Academy in October.

Ah, just checked the intertubes and it says that Gary Moore's band, G-Force was on the bill. To be honest I can't remember them at Reading though I had seem Moore with that band a few times elsewhere, once supporting Gillan at the City Hall, but they were poor then. Little wonder I can't remember them if I were there. Yes, Nine Below Zero are an incredible band and I am pleased to hear that you say that they're still going strong.
Cracking picture of Lifeson. Thanks for sharing that with us. I caught them on that tour at Sheffield and I chose a position in the upper wings on the left hand side so that I could peer down onto The Professor's kit and I wasn't disappointed. One of the triumphant trio of tub thumpers I have ever seen (Cozy being one other: his use of space is incredible and Ian Paice being the other: that man can really swing).
Since R30 I have had the luck and cost! to be in the first 3 rows on all the tours, had front row at Newcastle for Snakes and Arrows Tour, first saw them in 1977 when they did their first shows in the UK, always liked Cozy saw him first with Rainbow back in the 70's, met him a couple of times as well when he was doing the Sabbath gig.
