If Green doesn't move in the transfer window, he could likely sit out (not on the bench) the remainder of his contract.

Bet he doesn't think his agent is so hot now. If he sits on his arse for 6 months he'll be in League One next season. And not with QPR.

Free transfer, bench warmer at a low/mid Prem team.

R’s clinch signing of Wycombe Wanderers custodian ...

    • QPR sign goalkeeper Matt Ingram from Wycombe Wanderers
    • 22-year-old stopper pens deal until summer of 2020
    • Ingham will wear the number 29 shirt at Loftus Road
QPR have completed the signing of goalkeeper Matt Ingram from Wycombe Wanderers for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old custodian, who amassed 140 appearances in all competitions for the Chairboys since making his debut in March 2013, has signed a four-and-a-half year deal until the summer of 2020.
Arriving with an ever-growing reputation as the best young keeper in League Two, Ingram is relishing the opportunity to prove his worth at a higher level with Rangers, commenting: “I’m at the stage of my career when I want to progress and I see QPR as a natural step forward for me.
“I spoke to the manager at length and he made me feel really welcome about coming here.
“I’m by no means the finished article – as a 22-year-old goalkeeper, I’ve still got a lot to learn – and coming here gives me another platform to develop and get better.
“The challenge of competing for the shirt will drive me on. Alex (Smithies) is a great keeper and I’m looking forward to working with him and the other keepers.”
R’s boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is looking forward to seeing Ingram compete for a starting berth following his move to Loftus Road, telling www.qpr.co.uk: “Matt is one for the future, but he’s joining us at a time when he’s developing into a really good young goalkeeper.
“Alex has the shirt now but I want Matt to challenge him – and that is why we have signed him. Knowing him and his character, he won’t just be coming here to sit on the bench.
“I want the pair of them to push each other to the extreme. That’s the healthiness I want around the whole club.
“We feel Matt will play at the highest level one day. We foresee a very bright future for him.
“He’s big, strong, level-headed, works hard and shows the right mentality. I think we have bought another good asset for the club.”
He added: “My staff are very important when signing a goalkeeper.
“I do like certain attributes in my keepers and he certainly has those. But of course I take advice from my staff and they, like me, believe he has a very bright future.
“He’s young, he’s exciting and he’s British – he ticks all three of those boxes.”
Ingram, who will wear the number 29 shirt, is not eligible to feature in Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Loftus Road.

I like these transfers that come out of the blue - it shows that we're not chasing players because other teams are interested and so it must mean that they are solidly evaluated.

No mention of Green there so it's a clear line under his QPR career. I just hope we move him on quickly even if we have to part pay his contract. Having another Cesar scenario would be a devastating outcome although I do feel that Green will be looking to move on now.

Sorry, I use pedantry when I am trying to be funny but am misguided - I clearly don't know my colon from my humerus.

Me too Matt. He seems the right sort and actually looks the business. Even more so than Smithies. I have a feeling in my water about him even though I'd never heard of him before today. I hope that in 5 years time that there will be articles on SLF and JFH about QPR and how other clubs should look at their/our blueprint for success.

    Sigh <whistle>

I get where you're coming from Nines. Smithies gives the impression of a solid keeper but never a potential star whereas they're talking about Ingram as one to look out for.

I also love the way JFH speaks about the club and how he wants us to compete both on the field and on and ongoing basis. He seems determined to build on what Ramsey started with the recruitment policy but with an added stature and will to do it his way too.

I always believed in CR but, with the benefit of hindsight, it was as a coach with a sound philosophy. I now believe in Hasselbaink but as a manager. That's the difference we need to push on.

I just hope that CR can manage to do what he does best behind the scenes. I'm not too happy about the way the club has been bandied about as 'jobs for the boys' and the racial connotations seen elsewhere. You don't get a job in football because of your skin colour. I thought we'd left that philistinism thirty odd years ago.

Hopefully we'll see the beginnings of a new Rangers next season. If so I possess the patience. Get rid of the deadwood that still remains and start to build a new and hungry squad.

I've seen so many teams come to LR this season that have unheard of busy professional, talented and hungry players that are all over the pitch. Why haven't we got these types of players for what we've spent? We're not asking for a lot.

Yes, I do tend to forget about skin colour and just appreciate the fact that we seem to have some decent football men with a passion for our club in place.

The message about training harder to compete physically and then the quality coming through beyond that seems to be a recurring one. Much needed IMO as many teams are putting emphasis on this (Spurs and Leicester most prominently) and we can definitely do without being caught on the hop on this one.

If he plays five more he gets a new contract. I don't think I could handle another year of watching him throwing the ball in for £2m a year.

That's a shocking admission from a man of your erudition.
its almost worth being cryogenically frozen for a few years a so we don't have to go through the inevitable pain of the transition.
