The comments assigned to Ronald sounds just like normal Ron speak...he wants to do the best he can. Nothing to suggest he is about to up sticks. He has a history of sticking to his contracts even when a team he wants to join comes calling....he knows that other chances come round.

Seeing as Ronald always sees out his contracts, unless sacked, I don't think the Mirror's exclusive will be coming true. Unless Chelsea don't appoint a new manager for 18 months, that is. I suspect Chelsea might have had a couple of managers by then.

 

The second quote is generic...the first in jest.

Me too, although as it was the Mirror I just felt kind of grubby.

 

This is sabre rattling as he is contract discussions with the Saints. Stop worrying. He is looking for the best deal he can get from Kat and her cronies. This is a little pressure.

 

I think Ronald is a straightforward guy...he will tell the board if he is staying or going. He just has a sense of humour that comes over as a serious comment in print. I can just imagine him saying that perhaps Hiddink could put in a word for him when laughing off a question about Chelsea. I am certain he will be here next season, but would only be hopeful for the season after that.

 

it does make me chuckle that people bite when the tabloids print their non-stories. This one sounds like a classic slow news page filler based on a throwaway line from Koeman and some stitching together of another couple of quotes.
I genuinely hope Chelsea actually do operate the way they are trying to portray in this story because it shows hilarious incompetence. Only after sacking one manager halfway through the season, do they find out they are unable to hire an acceptable permanent replacement and have to bring in a semi retired caretaker manager - who they then go to for recruitment advice for the permanent vacancy...seems obvious really, and must be true because both managers come from the same country.
I read the story, but the only thoughts I had afterwards were good job I didn't buy the actual physical paper as I haven't got a Guinea pig cage so wouldn't have a use for the rest of the paper.

 

It's really getting difficult as I take in my daily latte at Sainsburys these days. The Mail, Mirror and Express all leave me feeling rather dirty for various reasons. I'm often left reading a slightly hysteric Bournemouth Echo in desperation.

I guess while the tabloids feel they only have to appeal to the top 4 Prem club fans we just have to suck it up.

 

Saw the source info Beefy, I just couldn't find anything that gave a timescale of when this purely hypothetical situation was going to happen. The implication by the rags reporting it is that Koeman is talking about Chelsea as an option NOW, not at some time in the future which completely changes your perception of how important it is. My reading of it was that at some time in the Future, Rk would love to take over at Chelsea as he'd like to manage at the most successful clubs that he can. I choose not to jump on the worst case scenario interpretation and dismiss it as just footie chat.
If I'm wrong then I would be very disappointed in Rk, but I don't think I am, at least not during the remaining year and a bit of his current contract.
I never worry about anything at all though so certainly won't about this.
