Agree with this, doesn't help having Sturridge, Ings and Origi all out as he tries to find his feet at his new club, a bit of support would be nice for the bloke rather than just kicking off at him no matter what the result is or whether he scores the winner, sets up a couple etc It's just a strange thing to do considering Klopp has also left him out of many games that we've ended up getting spanked in as well. Seems some just have to place the blame solely at someone to make them feel better
Benteke is a victim or poor players under performing even for them allied to him struggling to fit in. He's not a poor player. he's a 30mil player in this league with the moeny thats about. lallana's not a 25mil player, the midfield is very very weak realistically. the passing is far far too slow as well. The team is where it deserves to be so if klopp can engineer a cup in this seaosn he will have done ace.
Once people take a dislike to a player then it's hard to shift them. One minute Benteke's useless for standing next to the CB, but if in the next minute he moves out to find space then he's wrong again. Some on here won't change their opinion unless he turns into a worldie and scores off everything that goes near him. Some of the criticism of him is valid and deserved, some of it is just having a go. People really do seem to need someone to hate. I bet Skrtel's loving the fact that it's not him for a few weeks. I thought Benny played better the other night, though he should have done better a couple of times. If someone who has struggled is showing signs of improvement and the will to do so, then he deserves encouragement as far as I'm concerned. Also, he pisses Michael Owen off- and that's surely a plus?
Wouldn't that balls up graph boys points won per goal stat? He'd end up posting #doingabenteke ffs?. Unless he's talking crap in the first place of course
Haha this!! To be fair, Benteke did try against Exeter and he was involved in two goals which he hasn't done often. But to say that was a good performance is wrong. And the fact some fans have to defend his performance against EXETER says it all. If he truly was a £32.5m player, there should be no debate that he was head and shoulders above everyone in that game - truth is, he wasn't and he was once again overshadowed by the youngsters. I do feel for him a bit because he's at the point where people simple don't want to pass to him. I mentioned before he signed that quality players like the ones in the Belgium team don't pass to him either, and we saw the same with Firmino and Coutinho, and even the kids don't want to - for the second goal, Ibe and Ojo both ignore Benteke.
In which case Klopp should point out in no uncertain terms that he picks the team not the players and when selected they will do what is the best for the team and if they don't toe the line you don't get selected - simple
Nothing seems to divide opinion quite like Benteke on here. Personally, I think Klopp's got it right. Benteke works best coming off the bench when the opposition is tired and perhaps leaving more space or not pressing us as hard. He definitely has his uses but Firm deserves to be above him (not that Firm has had a stellar season). Benteke might be better if we had better crossers in the team but we don't so it's moot. If Benteke cost £12 million I think everyone would be content to have him in the team as decent backup. As our 2nd most expensive player ever, fans are right to be peturbed he's only good enough to be a squad player.
This is just about right, he is clearly not the best fit with our current squad and style of play but he's no Sean Dundee either so let's try get the best use out of him.
