well guys .. whats your fav music .. something different for a change lol any way heres mine U2 always been my fav mostly music off the joshua tree stuff before mid 90s fantastic group . ( the edge just has his own unique sound class) just wish they had played somewhere in the north east .. fav songs , well new years day , streets have no name ..and with or without you .. i also like all types of music apart from rap crap lol whats your favs guys
Don't really have a singular favourite as like bits and pieces from all different types of music also save for rap music. Favourites include and showing age here, Beatles, Slade, Madness, Stevie Wonder, Santana, Kinks...could go on and on.
The Verve - Urban Hymns, from start to finish, the greatest album ever produced in my opinion. Gomez - Bring It On, again, from start to finish incredible. Favourite song of all time. Oasis - Cast No Shadow. I also like a lot of hip hop songs that I feel wouldn't be welcome on here.
deacon blue one of me favs aswell .. seen them at city hall few years ago ricky ross sounded just the same live brillant also brothers in arms ( dire straits ) is a nice song powerful lyrics . great guitarist lol
Love all sorts to be honest. Rock/Pop stuff - ACDC, Foo Fighters, Oasis, Creedence, Hendrix, Bluetones, Supergrass, Arctic Monkeys, Stone Roses, Nirvana, Zepplin, Beatles, Free, Pink Floyd, The Breeders, Veruca Salt - list is bloody endless. I do like loads of rap stuff too though which I won't apologise for Leez Dre's new Compton album is pumping in the car at the moment. Probably not many poppy type songs I would go out and buy to be fair, but I'm not one of these music snobs who would say "if it hasn't got a guitar its not proper music" etc. If its a good tune I don't really care who its by. I wasn't like that in my youth mind. If it wasn't rock or certain rap I wasn't interested. So many now I'd struggle to get anywhere near naming a song or artist who is a favourite. Of the live bands I've seen, Kings Of Leon touring that first album, Foo Fighters, and Arctic Monkeys would be right up there. The show the Foo Fighters put on at the arena where they dropped the acoustic set down from the roof, had the whole runway etc, that was something else. A band called The Mooney Suzuki supported Kings of Leon at Northumbria University when they toured that first album, not a band I knew much of but they put on a hell of a show to be fair. The guitarist was in the crowd and the singer was about 20ft up in the air on top of the speakers at one stage. You could just see loads of hi vis safety folk ****ting their pants Another band I went to see live at the Academy who were ridiculously good were The Noisettes.
I have to say I love Bob Seger. Hollywood Nights is my all time fave 70`s rock track. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&r...bqGf8pcYL5naMWvBVn7LgQ&bvm=bv.112064104,d.bGg
Too many to name, but, James, The Jam, The Clash and The Stranglers top it for me. Looking forward to seeing James at the City Hall in May....best live band I've seen Before that The Stranglers at the Academy, and then in October - From The Jam with Foxton/Hastings...in good hands keeping The Jam music alive and then there's Lykke Li
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Tom Waits, The Doors, The Kinks, James Brown, Ray Charles, Parliament and the Funkadelic, Curtis Mayfield, Rick James, Wu Tang, Primal Scream, Joy Division, Kasabian, Massive Attack, The Prodigy, Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai. Could go on all day really. Like all kinds.
Last year I watched The Damned (twice), the Stranglers, Buzzcocks, 999, the Exploited, the Fratellis, Slaves, Simply Red, Angelic Upstarts (twice), Natalie Imbruglia, the Rezillos, Rio and the Rockabilly Revival, Slaves, Ho99o9, and a good few more. The Damned were tops though, fantastic group on their day. A nice eclectic mix there and that's how it should be.
Some cracking bands their Dorty. Most of them at the Academy? Not seen the Damned for years, but go most years to see The Stranglers. When were the Rezillos on...
Alright Heed, The Rezillos supported the Stranglers at the Academy last year, they were also on at the Cluny in December (only £14 a ticket). Saw the Damned at Sunderland Uni and then later at North East Calling at Northumbria Uni - along with 999 who were very good and the Exploited who were mental Noisiest gig went to Slaves (at the Academy) - if you don 't know them their debut album 'Are You Satisfied' is well worth a listen. I can't stand the Metro Arena.....saw Simply Red there (I took the missus, it gave me brownie points). Hucknall has a cracking voice but he is twenty years over the hill. £90 for two tickets one hundred yards from the stage....and seated as well...bah
Would have liked to have seen the Rezillos - didn't realise they supported the Stranglers last year, first time I've missed them for years, but it was either them or SLF. Some good bands there, 999 released some decent albums. Same here with the Arena, I cant get away it, but for brownie points, sometimes its worth it.. I'll give the Slaves a listen, cheers.
We speak about this a lot as it seems we have similar taste. Some good choices there. For many a year my favourite type of music wad psychobilly. A cross beteeen punk and rockabilly. Bands such as Guanabatz, Meteors and King Kurt.
