Muslims dont so not sure where you get the 99.9%

    but basically

According to Shariah terminology, Dar al-Islam is defined as the land which is governed by the laws of Islam and whose security (Aman) is maintained by the security of Islam, i.e. by the authority and protection of Muslims inside and outside the land, even if the majority of its inhabitants are non-Muslims.

Dar al-Kufr is the land which is governed by the laws of Kufr, and whose security is not maintained by the security of Islam, i.e. by other than the authority and security of Muslims, even if the majority of its inhabitants are Muslims.

dar ul kufr means land of non muslims, literally. So although the inhabitants of Saudi are majority muslim its leadership defines it as a non muslim country under teh rules of Islam/shariah

    Total waste of time really.

Fanny is the sort that if you said "I have got an apple shaped fruit, it came from an apple tree, smells like an apple, tastes like an apple, goes great in an apple crumble, what is the name of the fruit?" He'd say "Well I can tell you it isn't a banana"

    And your point?

So which one is Saudi Arabia? Is it Dar al Islam or Dar al Kufr? By your definition are you of the opinion that the ruling Saudi royal family are not in fact muslims? Would you care to go to Saudi Arabia and tell them to their face that you don't think they are muslims?

Which side of the schism are you on then? Are you Shia or Suni?

Saudi Arabia are banning Chess and issued a Fatwa against Pokemon <rofl> <rofl>

Saudi Arabia’s grand mufti has ruled that chess is forbidden in Islam, saying it encourages gambling and is a waste of time.

Sheikh Abdullah al-Sheikh was responding to a question on a television show in which he issued fatwas to viewers who sent in queries on everyday religious matters.

He said chess was “included under gambling” and was “a waste of time and money and a cause for hatred and enmity between players”.

Al-Sheikh justified the ruling by referring to the verse in the Qur’an banning “intoxicants, gambling, idolatry and divination”. It is not clear when the fatwa was delivered.

Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, Iraq’s supreme Shia religious authority, has previously issued rulings forbidding chess.

After the 1979 Islamic revolution, playing chess was banned in public in Iran and declared as haram, forbidden, by senior clerics because it was associated with gambling. But in 1988, Iran’s then supreme leader, Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini, lifted the ban and said it was permissible as long as it was not used for gambling. Iran now has an active confederation for playing chess and sends players to international games.

Moves to suppress chess are likely to have come as a surprise to the seventh-century Muslims who conquered Persia and adopted the game before exporting it to Europe.

Muslim scholars tend to place chess, a skill-based game, in a different category from games of chance such as dice, but frown upon it if it distracts a person from performing the five daily prayers. Placing bets under any circumstances is forbidden.

Nigel Short, the British chess grandmaster, told the BBC that banning chess in Saudi Arabia would be a “great tragedy”. “I don’t consider chess to be a threat to society. It is not something that is so depraved as to corrupt morals,” he said. “Even Ayatollah Khomeini came to the conclusion that he’d gone too far and repealed his own ban.”

The region’s clerical establishment figures are no strangers to seemingly strange fatwas, or edicts. In the early 2000s, Saudi and other clerics issued a fatwa against the popular Pokémon franchise, and during the 2010 football world cup in South Africa, religious scholars in the UAE said using the widely reviled vuvuzela instrument was forbidden if the sound produced was above 100 decibels.

I am Sunni (only to differentiate between shia ad sunni). Shia in the main are not muslim and its in their name ie shia rafidah. The rafidah means literally ''deniers'' due to the denying certain fundamentals of the faith. Same with what you may know as the ''fivers'' or ''twelvers''. The simple explanation for them being kaafir is in teh vegetarian eating tbone steak analogy

Saudi is dar ul kufr, at last count there was no muslim country as per definition in Islam, all are dar ul kufr including pakistan, saudi etc

I have opnely called the house of saud non muslim and its a view shared by many a muslim scholar etc. Its more common than you think and one of the reasosns why saudi get no support outside the west in its wars and why it cant (not wont) intervene in syria etc openly, the muslim population wont have certain thigs
