So you think we should have given him a bigger contract when he was out long term injured or when he was stood on the pitch watching the games early season,he's never had any serious interest in a new deal, because he had a agreement with West Ham to see out his contract.

Got to disagree, in my opinion, any footballer, not just Byram owe the club nothing. Fans only get this romantic idea if the player turns out to be good, clubs dump academy players and signings every year without compunction, as do fans, if the player doesn't make the grade.
Bryam moved on because we don't look like competing for, let alone achieving, promotion anytime soon and the other youngsters will as well unless we change that pattern. So Cellino better start funding new signings, spotting players good enough for this division or we need to luck on a whole bunch of youngsters coming through the ranks, the likes of Woodgate etc, who can get us and then want to stay.
That doesn't mean I won't chuckle if somehow West Ham somehow get relegated next season as I did about Bradders and Howson when Norwich did.

It was reported that though the offer was lower, it was the whole amount up front. Now I'm not one to start conspiracy theories but why do you think Cellino wanted all the cash up front :bandit:

He didn't,He wanted Byram to go Everton and had nothing but good to say about the way Everton conducted themselves, said not 1 word about WHU which said it all.

Will have to disagree with you then, when I've have a good job I've turned down more money else where and showed some loyalty like they did with me.There may be less people like that now days but there are some.If he had given 110 % during his time at Leeds I would say fair enough but he hasn't.

    I would disagree with London.

I understand that loyalty within football means little these days and I know they have only a limited time that they can make serious money, but if Sam had signed a one year extension with a clause that if an offer came in more than 8m, he had the choice, that would have been a lot fairer...

Hi El. The point I'm making is the clubs and fans show no loyalty to players if they're crap but somehow demand it if they're good.

Players are there to do a job,if they do it to a fair standard and for a long time clubs show a lot of Loyalty,Testimonials, coaching jobs or working for the club in PR etc.

Only if they're good enough to be kept on. Clubs do not keep crap player (unless they can't offload them).

Well that's not just footballers,if you're not good enough to do any job you wouldn't expect to be kept on.

Exactly but I'm not the one suggesting if you are good enough to be kept on that some how means you owe that club / business a debt of loyalty.
