Iv seen that everyone on here has seem to assumed there was 6000 fans there yesterday after someone mentioned that number in a thread yesterday who wasn't there themselves.

I beg to differ! I personally think it was closer to 10,000. The majority of the kingsland was full up and half the northam was open which was half full itself. If you thinks the stadium is 32000 and if you said the kingsland and itchen held 10000 each and corner to corner the northam and chapel held 6000 that would give you the capacity..
So with the northam a quarter full at 1500 and the kingsland at least 75% full that would give another 7500.
9000 fans for a preseason friendly that is more than mk dons got for the JPT area final. I rest my case.

I absolutely agree it was between 9 and 10 thousand.

I wasn't there, but this sounds more accurate than the flippant off-the-cuff derision of an estimation I read earlier.

I have to agree, the sections of the Northam and Corner that were open seemed pretty well packed, including the main section of travelling germans! I was amazed at how many of us already had the new shirt too, so its obviously a hit, will it sell as quick as the sash?

Closer to 10,000 and a good atmosphere despite mostly being in one stand.

The Germans were great, 10 of them singing could be heard all round the ground <laugh>

One of the best pre season atmospheres for many years.

the point of the post which quoted the 6,000 was that the poster expected more for what was in effect a memorial for Markus. i was there, and thought there was more than 6,000, and probably nearer to 9,000, but......... if it was 9,000 or 6,000 was that enough for the tribute to Markus?? I my view, even if it was 9,000 - in a stadium that we filled for the last game of the season, and for a poxy cup tie against man u 9,000 was not enough!

People say it was a poor turnout, but I think the turnout was what I expected and what the club expected. I dont think the fair could have coped with another 2-3 thousand people. There was a 20 minute queue to get on the nig wheel whish is fine when its free but a few thousand more and it would ahve got chaotic.
I enjoyed the day even though I had four kids with me. Bit gutted no Grolsh on tap in the ground though.
