Ah but that rule only applies to opponents who play in red and white with a rotund manager. So won't apply to Everton unfortunately!

If Guidolin has any smarts he will take 100% advise fron Curtis for the Everton game , 90% the next game and so on for a smooth transaction to where he wants to go with the team from where Curtis has taken the team .To inflict his ideas totally right from the get go could be catastrophic imo .If player confidence is broken , Guidolin has a limited time with only 16 games to rebuilt it and it could snowball out of control .More than a bit worried ,not with the appointment itself , just the timing .

I can't see Guidolin not valuing Curtis's opinion on an opposition he probably knows nothing about. He places great store in videos and learning from them so I suspect that'll come into his preparations too.

From what I've read about him watching videos of the Swansea Way, where we played with a high tempo, fast wingers and quick pressing game, it's a case of restoring what the players already know. Curtis has restored the passing and solidified our defence, so it will be a case of Guidolin polishing off our game play.
But, we need that bloody new striker asap.

It`ll be interesting to see how the new joint Curtis/Guidolin team play. I`m never hopeful of getting a win at Goodison, so I`m hoping we`ll get a draw, which will be a good result. A win will be beyond my expectations, but hey ho.

What's the bet we'll sit our midfield deep, and hit them on the counter? I see Sousa tactics coming back somewhat, with fast counter attacking, I could see Guidolin shaking his head at some of our defending in the second half against Watford, He looks a very astute tactician, and his CV is not to be sniffed at........<ok>

    Lawro's comment

Martinez's old team Swansea have got bigger problems, though. When I watched themagainst Watford on Monday night, they won but they looked like a Championship team..... <yikes>

    Lawro's prediction: Everton 2-0

I don't expect miracles but I do expect to see a positive reaction to the new manager ,Curtis did a sterling job during his brief spell but we needed to bring someone in to kick us on again ,hopefully Guidolin will be the one to do it and why not on Sunday .

I'm approaching it with cautious enthusiasm. I think we'll see a more motivated performance from the team but if we do take the lead I think they might drop back and defend deeper which Everton could capitalise on.

To not attack Everton's vulnerable defence from the first minute to last will be a mistake .Athough Everton have scored twice as many goals than us , I trust our new found cohesiveness on defence to do a job on their attack .
This game will be won or lost on the back fours and keepers . But we have Britton , key to this game imo.

100% agree, Evertons home record raises a few eyebrows and my spirits going in to the game. There are a few things about our keeper that worry me though. Fabianski has lost a lot of confidence over the season, I've seen him on a few occasions just watch the ball go in or narrowly go wide. There doesn't seem to be any fight from him. His distribution has improved slightly, though he still hoofs the ball upfield too much for my liking.

Dunno what it is about Everton, but like Spurs, we just can't seem to beat them. This would be the biggest shock result against Everton should we beat them since we got to the PL. We haven't been able to beat them when we've been full of confidence and higher up the table in previous seasons so I fear it will be another blank for us.

However - we need it more this season than in past seasons. Maybe that is something to cling to ?
