David Paulides mentions this during many of his Coast To Coast interviews when discussing his books titled Missing 411.

@Der Kaiser should know more on this subject.

He's lucky so far, no one has grabbed onto him as they fell and took him into the canal with him.

Unless he barges into them really hard.

I watched this programme last night, and I tend to agree with the police that there isn't a serial killer on the loose.

First of all if there was a serial killer on the loose, then he must be a criminal master mind, as he's left no traces of himself at all in a city that is full of CCTV cameras. There is even CCTV in some areas of the canals.

Secondly he would have to have a 100% strike rate with the people he attacked, and there are 28 deaths seen as suspicious. So with that number of apparent attacks, there would have to be some who survived to tell the tale.

Finally there was no sign on any of the victims that they had been attacked, and if he's just pushing people into a canal then there's no guarentee they are going to drown. I know I could still swim to safety even if I'd had a lot to drink. So that again brings me back to the point about there not being any survivors.

Some of the deaths may well have been suspicious, but I think they are individual cases that need solving, I don't believe all the incidents are linked to the same offender.

Most canals have 8 ft walls either side so you would have to swim a long way in your clothes in ice cold water to find somewhere to climb out.

Ice cold water? It's Manchester not the Arctic. The water is cold but it isn't cold enough that your body wouldn't be able to cope in it for a while.

Also there are many ladders attached to the side along the route so people can climb out if they fall in.

You'd also be suprised how far you can swim when it's either that or drown. And most of the supposed victims have been young fit healthy men, it's not like the supposed victims have been pensioners.
