One, and that's my brother, if that still counts? I have only ever had one best mate, that I know wouldn't let me down, no matter what. We were as thick as thieves, we done everything together. Holidays, sharing one night stands, nights in the police station, nights on the street. It didn't matter, we shared everything, including our first home, away from the parents. We were a couple of well known, but lovable rogues to the area. His loyalty was unquestionable and when he died, a piece of me went with him, definitely. It was his 10th year anniversary on Christmas Eve and he's never been replaced, nor could he ever be. p.s. If we are including dogs, then put my Skye right at the top of the list.
When i said scouser, he's actually more like a gypo, Liverpool born, moved to Essex, Aberdeen, Teeside, now lives in York.
My old man, my brother, my nephew and the missus. Friends are sound but even the best go missing, often when it matters.
My best mate in Horden who I have been friends with since we were 2. Two mates from my RAF days and my business partner now. Then my family.
My lady is well beyond my best friend. She's my soul mate. Going to ask her to marry me very soon I reckon.
5, Ive knocked about with one of them for about 50 years the other four for 40 odd years. Three lads two lasses who I would like to think I would give my life for if it was needed. Still out at least once a week together even now. We've been locked up together, we have helped each other with mortgage payments when times have been tough and we do what we need to do to look after each other.
