SP just been on Talksport and his comments are below fellow reds. Just been asked about Bristol City, not interested at the moment and shocked he's linked. Also thought Cotts was doing ok. That put this one to bed.
Also said he's going to the cinema tonight when asked if he was going to the City v WBA....says to me that he's not interested!!
I want Fergie, Wenger or Jose and no doubt the club want them but they ain't getting them!! Wanted is a big difference to getting, so like Banksy says back tracking your original statement.
If that bit of the interview is correct, then I don't want him here. Don't get me wrong, I think that as a player SP was EVERYTHING you could ever want from a footballer, who could ever forget Euro 96 and especially the penalty reaction. However, if he thought that being in the relegation zone and getting beat most weeks was doing ok, then I wouldn't like to see NOT doing ok...!!!
Interesting listening to City legend Louis Carey on Radio Bristol tonight. Said: * It's unusual for a team to sack a manager and not have a new one in mind/lined up * Pemberton is not management material! He'll be popular in the morning!
agree pembo is not a manager,we went down this root before and looked what happened. Big decision the next manager,if we are serious they know what needs to be done.
Arsenal waited half a season to get Wenger. I think most Gooners would consider that to be a wise investment of time
i think it has to be a two way thing, the guy they want is going to want assurances, and the powers that be need to be happy all will be well in the long term.
But is that the case these days? I'm open to be shot down in flames here but isn't it modern practice that most managers don't have total control especially when it comes to signings etc
It may be common practice but I guess I'm old school and think the Manager of a football club should do everything and have the final say. I think it's a recipe for not playing players when someone else has brought them in. Maybe that's what happened with SC and Simon Cox ?
I think having people like Mark Ashton in place can dilute/undermine the Managers position. A Manager should at least be able to have significant input into who he wants/doesn't want. And it's a potential recipe for disaster if individuals don't get on..... and there will only be one winner.
The longer this thread goes on the more embarrassing it gets.... Can't wait for us to appoint someone, just so RR can say "yep that's who it was" but sadly nobody will believe him. You've lost all credibility now RR...
