No I'm saying he's a nice chap and hasn't been changed much by all the fame and fortune he's got. They are all good players who've done good things, but they don't have the fame he has. Plenty of random people have saved people's lives and such but they don't get knighted, why? Because you have to be in the public eye to get 'sir'-ed nowadays and Beckham is more than any of these guys and does more than his fair share of good work for the country.

    Wow.

Anyway, I haven't actually got a problem with David Beckham being knighted. I do agree with B4F points about Beckham and I don't think him giving his kids strange names should stop him from getting a knighthood.

He has done good things and I don't think that many people can deny that. He has done good work for football and sport and he does excellent work for charity.

Thank you mate. Just because he is United, doesn't mean he shouldn't collect an award.

    Opinions are opinions obviously.

    So its about fame now.
I'm 100% convinced that its nothing more than yet another kiss-up to Manchester United by the media, similar to when they had Bobby Charlton knighted. And that in itself is sickening.

You've been given the reasons. If you chose not to agree then fine.

What reasons,I have not seen any valid reason whatsoever,if valid reasons were provided I may consider agreeing with them, but as of yet,no valid reasons have been provided.
    He's a nice bloke/
    He's famous.
    He's iconic.
    He does some charity work.
None of these are extra-ordinary factors.None of these warrant honours.

How is Bobby Charlton getting knighted at all outrageous? The man was one of if not the best English player at the 1966 world cup, has done a lot of charity work and work supporting football. He also went through a lot of trauma during the Munich air disaster yet still rose to become a great representative for English football. You are unbelievably biased KPR and your fellow Liverpool fans are agreeing.

    Question
Was Bobby Charlton the captain...Oops that was Bobby Moore.
Did he score a hat-trick..oops that was Geoff Hurst.
Tell me exactly how Bobby Charlton was any different to Nobby Stiles,Martin Peters,George Cohen,Roger Hunt,Alan Ball,Ray Wilson,.Gordon Banks,Jack Charlton.
    He was no different.
If he was knighted, they should all have been knighted.
Representative for English football. That just means that he opened his gob on things that didn't concern him.
    He survived a plane crash?
1000s of people survive plane crashes, should they all be knighted too?

Throughout the whole world cup he was probably the best player, and he wasn't a striker so the chances of him scoring a hat trick are minimised. Anyway Geoff Hurst is a Sir regardless. He didn't score or play aswell as he normally did in the final because he was marking Franz Beckenbauer, possibly the greatest centreback sweeper of all time and heartbeat of the German side.

Beckham is no doubt a nice guy, and as far as I remember he put his all in for his team and country when he played. Off the pitch he's a model player aswell, he hasn't been involved in any scandals I can remember and he's stayed loyal to his wife which is rare in the high profile world of football nowadays.

Does he deserve a knighthood? I'm not too sure. Possibly for services to football thanks to his contribution to our world cup bid, but then could we say that about many of the people behind the scenes that helped as well?

At the end of the day, a knighthood is only a title. It doesn't describe a person, just gives them praise and recognition.

However regarding his wife,If I were married to her I would stray away and he allegedly did with Rebecca Loos.

Actually, why are you even bothered who gets knighted if you're Irish? No wonder you don't want Beckham or Bobby Charlton to get knighted, you don't like England or United.

    lol

    - lets not bring countries into this. There are plenty of English/Irish fans who support both teams. KPR is just unique.
