Probably not- but my opinions on overpaid pampered footballers have been well aired on here.
In the context of the modern game our club can't be singled out in that respect, so I don't see how his permanent injury state can be down to the club, unless they've done something specifically to cause it .
Which is why I questioned the statement. Benteke is a square peg in a round hole, Mario is a, well he's just Mario. Buying both of those players can be put down to mistakes by the club- but I don't see the Sturridge situation comparable at all.

I wrote my reply to Tobes before yours came up.
If you are saying keeping him was a mistake, then fair enough. It's a valid opinion, but I've given mine on this before also.

However, B&B can be viewed as mistakes from the off, as they don't really fit our style of play. Sturridge fits it perfectly, so the issue is with his injuries (real or perceived), and so a different issue for me.
The trouble is, we don't know the full story. When there's a lack of information people speculate, after a while that speculation becomes ubiquitous and is accepted as the truth.

Not so much that keeping him was a mistake (I think it was the right decision personally), but it was a decision that needed to be made and we knew what the consequences would possibly (or probably) be. I agree that B&B (quite an appropriate Abbreviation given their movement on the pitch) are a different issue. Also agree that we don't know the full Story; it's just that Klopp's comments a couple of times recently have seemed to possibly indicate something below the surface, but obviously not sure what.

My info posted above indicate a history of ankle injuries before the contract and then a litany of upper leg issues after. I'm not sure what injuries he got at cheslea or on loans.

Its not all the same injury like say kompany who cannot get fit .

none have been injuris that should be so long term... the one kikc on the nakle that put him out a whole summer certainly was.... the rest?

in any event klopp was right he did effectively miss all preseasons under rodgers.... ankle injury returned late... on own program... last season got an injury and missed most.

Klopp brought him back in- he scored then immediately got injured again.
Perhaps Klopp has looked at this and decided he will try to sort him out his own way, and not the same way that has failed several times before.
We can but hope. We'd look a totally different team with a fit and firing Sturridge.

sure. What we can tell is

    a) rushing him back to play 60mins doesn't work.. rodgers tried it
    b) sending him to yankland away from club doctors didn't work... twice
    c) making him train for a preseason type time period so far hasn't worked as he pulled up and has "lost time"

IF klopp supervising a preseason build up of sturridge can get him on the pitch in a 3 month period (and this is now what month 1 nearly over) then it seesm the future for sturridge is quite stark.

I wonder if there's been some behind the scenes issues between him and Klopp? The language used about him appears odd in recent weeks.

    who knows..

what is a small bit interesting is that his twitter account is silent since Christmas and his ready to go tweet... thats a lot longer than normal and one would wonder if anyone had a bit of a word and told him to shut up.

Klopp has said he was training now but away from team which suggests he is basically running and no contact no ball work stuff.

"JON FLANAGAN will be back in a Liverpool first team dressing room tomorrow night, but Daniel Sturridge won’t be - as Reds boss Jurgen Klopp revealed that his young guns will be given the opportunity to finish the job they started against Exeter City in the third round replay at Anfield.

Five players made their Liverpool debuts in the original 2-2 draw at St James’ Park, and Klopp revealed that the line up for the replay will be “similar to last time.”

But Daniel Sturridge will not be involved after another break to his regimented training schedule.

“He had a break again in his training sessions because of his issues and he is back on the training pitch again,” explained Klopp.

“But he has had no team training since Newcastle.

“I don’t know how long it is (December 6) but that’s, of course, not a situation where we can think about him.”"

there you go. he's been away from squad for over a month and has had issues still... regimented sounds like some wise guy wrote the story....

Sturridge clearly thought on boxing day he was fit but klopp didn't.

After that its another 3 weeks and the guy has been in the stands.

That's what I mentioned to @saintKlopp earlier on. It just seems a bit weird, and different to how he speaks about other injured players. I don't know what exactly it is, but I'm getting less and less confident about seeing Sturridge in a Liverpool shirt again the more Klopp speaks.

what he is saying about flanagan or mingolet is glowing...

everything is nice... he gets asked every 5 minutes about sturridge i'd say.

Possibly, he is very blunt about Sturridge. It sounds like he is frustrated with him

Pantiliomon to Watford. Seems abit of an odd one.

Watford have a GK and Sunderland's other two GK's aren't as good.

  14. Big bid pending to get Migs back? New contract involved a "must rejoin Sunderland if the option arises" clause?

First post. Long time lurker as someone else put it recently. My take on Sturridge is that Klopp wants him to have a "full" preseason before considering him for selection. As far as I can tell from Klopp's comments Sturridge can't manage this. Rodgers would bring him in asap.

Allardyce must not fancy pantillimon. I mean OK, he's entitled not to but the timing seems slightly risky no?

Welcome mate. I agree with that, I think Klopp will want to make sure Sturridge is 100% before throwing him in again, clearly the lad needs to build up his resilience and overall fitness, so let him work on that behind the scenes. I'm not convinced he'll have play for us again if I'm honest.

I'd agree. Pantilimon is a proven keeper, and a fairly decent one at that. Where as Mannone is a mess and Pickford is still learning.

They're not the two goalkeepers I'd want in a relegation battle
