Tonight Rovers face Mangotsfield (away) in the GFA Senior Challenge Cup. Kick off is 7:45pm. Rovers have named the following starting lineup. Kieran Preston, Danny Greenslade, Alfie Kilgour, Bradley Confrey,Tom Fry, Eliot Green, Jay Malpas, George Corp, Ryan Broom, Olly Mehew & Blake Davies. Olly Mehew's dad - David Mehew, is of course Mangotsfield's manager. So its Mehew vs Mehew. Who will be going home with bragging rights? Also, Mangotsfield have other Rovers connections. Steve Elliott is part of the management team. Tom Parrinello, Lewis Hogg and Matt Groves have all played for Rovers. Scott Brice was also with us as a YT and Joe Hillard is the grandson of former Rovers stalwart Doug Hillard (before my time).
I'm going along. We had a pre-season against them. Our striker ran riot and scored twice. His name ?........................Nathan Blissett!
Ryan Broom scores 3rd minute. Rovers lead 1-0 Broom scores from penalty spot after 26 minutes. Rovers lead 2-0 Great goal from Olly Mehew after 36 minutes makes it 3-0 to Rovers Jay Malpas scores goal number four on 41 minutes Half time at Cossham Street. Rovers lead Mangotsfield 4-0 Ben Bament scores for Mangotsfield on 79 minutes. Rovers lead 4-1 Rovers win 4-1
Rovers wrapped it up in the first half. Very icy conditions, worsening in the second half. Ryan Broom impressed, and good performances from Ollie Mehew, Danny Greenslade and Jay Malpas. Kieran Preston sound; one excellent turn over the bar in the first half, and could do little about their goal. One to watch....Alfie Kilgour @ CB.
I like Broom from what I have seen, read and been told about. Thank you for the report p49. I appreciate it
Ryan Broom seems to be a very good player indeed I noticed he scored 4 in 8 games for Taunton. He's definitely a player that needs to be developed further for the first team and not another one that keeps getting sent out on loan all the time like Lucas. It does piss me off when we have these talented young players and just let them slip threw the cracks.
Thought that Preston's hands and ball were outside the area when he launched the kick for Meyhew's goal
