I assume whoever the striker is. Beharino I'd imagine though I still think he'll end up elsewhere. Its still Owen at 17.5m I think. Bout time we did it.

Absolutely! We're just about the last club in the league to realise that paying £10-£12 million buys you a decent premier league squad player and that buying someone guaranteed to make a difference costs a lot more.

Wijnaldum was a total steal given some of these prices being quoted for average players.

    14m for Townsend
    20+m for Berahino
    25m for Sissoko

At the end of this window they could in theory all be at Newcastle (they wont but I'm just pointing out I'm not really biased against them) and none of them are in the same category as Wij. He is by far our best player.

Why aren't we buying defenders!!! I'd be baffled if we spend another chunk of money, blow our budget and yet bring in no defenders... just crazy.

ps. Hope they stay up but if Sunderland go down we need to move mountains to get M'Villa in.

If M'Villa is a loanee which I think he is I'd like to think we can snap him up to add to the squad.

M'Vila is absolutely class but the list shows who has "been the most effective buy in this campaign". And that's it really, he's not a buy for yous. Wonder where he ends up, clearly an excellent player.

    Getting back to the OP.
The Mag actually ran with a story about Fantasy Football points by f******* Sky as the basis of the best summer signing.
The depth of idiocy never ceases to amaze.

If we managed to convince him that he was going to enjoy it here and he came with full intention of doing all he can to get on that trip to the Euro's then great. I think he is the type of striker we need. My impression is that he is just not necessarily all about the game and its more about lifestyle for him which is why I think he might end up in London in and out of the spurs team.

That's like saying you own a library book. You have to give them back at the end of the loan period. They are your responsibility while you have them but they belong to the library. I guess the only difference is that the library book doesn't have to agree to be borrowed by you. Do you know if there is a clause in his loan contract allowing you to buy at a set price? Otherwise I suspect that there will be a few clubs interested at the end of his loan period.

But what has ownership got to do with anything? It's still a transfer, He'd never played this league before and taken to it effortlessly. Counts for something in my eye. I'm not going to nit pick over the type of transfer. Still a transfer.

Yep there's a set fee as standard which the loan fee goes towards if he signs. He's free not to accept the contract though and probably wouldn't. Serves us right for not buying him outright. Think I'll worry about staying up before summer signings though.

Not sure he would have agreed to signing permanently before the loan to be honest. Put aside club loyalties and to an outsider you're just perennial relegation bait (for the past few years anyway). I actually think you've got more chance of signing him after a years loan if you avoid relegation as he will hopefully have a connection with the club/ area/ team.

Disagree, he was exiled at Rubin Kazan, he wanted a permanent move to the Prem, Rubin Kazan wanted a permanent move but because of the high fee and the players off field troubles we insisted on a loan to buy. We played it too safe, could have been in line for excellent profit but will probably lose out now. No doubt in my mind he could have signed permanently.

Fair enough, you know more about the deal than I do to be honest. If that's the case then yeah it was a bad call not to buy permanently.

To be fair due to him being an off field nutter most of us fans felt a loan was best. We all bottled it. :(

From what I heard when he turned out for the Sunderland U21's he was willing to "bottle" it too.

He got sent off for the u21 in his first game. That led to idiots deciding he was an on pitch liability and he was getting hounded out by my our board before he kicked a ball for the first team. Witten off there and then by many. I said to them it was isolated as on pitch he's not a reckless player generally. But sinces we're well over the half way stage and no off field events as yet and only one yellow card all season. He's really a fantastic player.

Like Gini way out of our league. Top 4 potential all day long and certainly CL quality. At least you get to profit massively when it turns out you can't keep him. We'll get **** all. Yann will be off to Arsenal in the Summer I reckon.

You never know. There are far more 'top 4 quality' players than here are top 4 team places. You could get lucky.
