Speaking of those articles, I haven't heard any talk around here about Kadar going on loan to Holland?

So they're all nationally biased sources then, until I heard an outlet point to him going to a different country, I'm not believing any of them

This exactly, some "fans" are ****ing ridiculous on here like. Never happy at all, whinge about spending the £35 mil then when part of it does the player is ****. Complain about the player being unknown but all jumped right on Tiotes dick as soon as it turned out he was a quality UNKNOWN FOREIGNER.

Until I see it on our official website I'm not going to believe it.

I'm fed up with all the rumours and nothing happening.

So spot on. I like to think I'm fairly clued up footie wise, but I won't pretend I'm an expert on all the European leagues, an 'unknown' could frankly be superb. Tiote barely got a kick for Twente (Mclaren being absolutely correct in saying he's more suited to the English game) and is one of the best players I've seen for a long time. Cabaye and Erdinc are both full internationals but aren't household names over here which means we pick them up for £4-7m rather than spending an absolute fortune on a Downing or Henderson. If he signs can we at least give him the benefit of the doubt before we decide he's ****e?

This is a funny, but topical read: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2011/jul/21/english-football-transfers

Think it sums up allot of what's been said in the thread so far:

You sir are speaking the truth. If I see one more comment posted on news sites from Newcastle fans saying we should be getting players who're "Premier League proven"...I'd much rather take a chance on a player who's showed class in a foreign league than a player who's proven they're mediocre playing in England

I dont get newcastle fans, they dont appreciate nothing, seriously. 2 season ago you were in the championship, now your a team that will be fighting for top ten, thats not enought for you? do you think you have the god given right to be the best team in the world?
where did you expect to be 2 seasons after being relegated? top of the premier league.

personally i feel your club's done some great signings, but pessimistic bitches like you are, are what ruin football.

and just to add i highly doubt you know anything about erdinc, and is just a dick commenting on him by name, or by one paragraph hes read about him.

In fairness Tash randomly changes his mind a page later based on his average rating on FIFA 11. Actually ignore that, that probably makes it worse...

The point is, we HAVE the potential to do a lot more. £35million of the Carroll money is sitting there, and if Ashley gave the go ahead, we could spend it all on some really top, top players.

However, Ashley and Llambias are refusing to spend any large amount of cash - instead focusing on freebies and a few £5mill players.

So we are very appreciative of the current position, but it's so frustrating because the potential to do even better is so close to our grasp, if only our owners weren't such stingy lying bastards.

As for Erdinc, he only worries me because strikers aren't like players like midfielders. Whilst midfielders and defenders have certain unmeasurable qualities which may make them a big unexpected hit here, strikers have to live by their ability to score goals. Erdinc's goalscoring record is pretty decent (15 goals in 31 apps in 09-10), but it's only in Ligue 1. The EPL is much tougher, and it is rare for a player to bring the same (or better) sort of goalscoring record to the EPL from other European leagues.

That's why I'd be more comfortable with a striker who has managed to bag 20+ goals in league like Ligue 1. Even if they find it more difficult to score over here and their scoring dips, they may still be able to hit 15+. With Erdinc, we have to hope that he somehow keeps the same sort of goalscoring record, or betters it, by moving to the Premier League. It's a lot to ask for.
