Who - Conor or us?! We moved pretty quick, or at least pretty quiet in advance of many of the summer signings, and just now with Charlie to Saints. Better than for years.

Anyone seen any reason behind why he scored so few at Newport? Leaves me slightly worried that he's basically had one good season and League One and is now apparently worth £3m.

Will be delighted if I'm just being overly cautious however.

Hopefully SLF and JFH can recognise a good striker when they see one

His goalscoring record with Peterborough is also pretty poor, if you take away the good last 15 games he's had then his record is awful there too in fact. Not seen him play so hopefully they have seen something in him that they think is worth the money and he'll fit in and develop with us keeping up his current form, if we get Bamford too then it's a good bit of business really!

15 goals this season. Suppose it comes down to whether he's on form or improving

Also would guess he must bring more to the side than purely being a goalscorer

Jamie Vardy's 29 and never really been a goalscorer and people think he's best thing since sliced bread all of a sudden

Was listening to talk sport on the drive home tonight and Adrian Durham (who is a Posh fan) was raving about him.Didnt want him to go ,said he is a confidence player and would need good coaches around him. But has been very good for Posh this Season. Micky Quinn also mentioned he was at some function where a lot of coaches, ex players pundits were saying what a good coach JFH is going to be.

Vardy scored 27 goals in 37 for Halifax, 31 goals in 36 for Fleetwood and 40 goals in 113 for Leicester so far, seems like a goalscorer to me.

More importantly about those 15 goals Washington has scored this season is most have been in the last 16 games, in the first 16 games for them he only scored 2! Like you say it comes down to form or improving? Polter is scoring a few for us at the moment but I don't think there will be any prem teams sniffing around for him. Let's just hope if Washington signs he keeps up his good form.

We signed a proven striker in Charlie for only slightly more, with an established goal scoring track record at Poole, Swindon and Burnley, so that amount most appears a bit rich.

With our recent record that's a bit of a concern. £3m does seem a bit high & shows what a bargain Saints got albeit in different circumstances.

he was leaving soon enough for free
    4 mill is good business
or at least the best we were likely to get with 6 months till a bosman
he could have stayed till the season finished and then ****ed off for nothing

    This.

Patrick Agyeman (sp?) went on a blistering run when he joined us. I'm wary of one good scoring run. At least Washington's non league record is good.

Minxy says hes a confidence player and is still learning, and needs strong coaches...I expect that is why he wants to come...SLF and JFH (and probably the money too)
They do not want to lose him, as he is the key to their promotion....but think it is inevitable.

    Nothing bad there at all

Heard it was 2.5 up to 3 mill including add ons, which in the scheme of it these days isn't all that bad, especially when clubs know you have just received 4+ mill. Of course he is a gamble but then again if you look up the chain Boro have had a 10 mill bid for McCormack rejected!!!" Burnley spend 9 mill on Gray and Blackburn are still holding out for 10 mill plus for Rhodes, all who will demand much higher wages, signing on fees, etc. I'm hoping we have got a proper gem here, welcome aboard Connor!

    Same goes for Vardy.

Prior to the run of form that seems now to have ended Vardy average less than a goal every 3 games for Leicester. And when Vardy was same age as Washington is now he was averaging a whopping goal every 2 games for the might Stockbridge Park Steelers

I dont know any Peterborough fans but would be interested to know the story behind why they paid £500,000 from him from Newport even though that’s the one place he hasn’t scored regularly

The Vardy comparison seems to be a good one for Washington, pacey hardworking striker come up from lower leagues (although he’s managed it quicker than Vardy) and neither particularly prolific
