    I was tucked up in bed so I could get up early with miniOT as she's now in the habit at waking up at half five and asking for breakfast. I need to board up her bedroom windows to stop sunlight getting in.

    Transcript of interview with Pardew AFTER match:

    What's your assessment of this evenings game?
    Yeah, what difference did this surface make? Did it make passing a bit harder, do you think? Or keeping possession, keeping your feet, as well?
    James Tavernier had a rare start and he did well..
    It was a good run out in terms of.. you know, the American fans got to see what it was all about. It was a good atmosphere, got quite boisterous at times and do you think the players overall enjoyed it?
    Fraser pulled off some very good saves, particularly second half..
    Finally, Columbus next, on grass..
