I didn't hear or see any 'mauled by the tigers' celebration on Saturday. I know it's unofficial but this generally kicks in after a 3 goal lead is established. OK so it's a tad camp but it's uniquely our celebration and it would be a shame for this to die out. Or did I miss it from the comfort of my West Stand armchair?
Definitely happened in parts of the south stand after the fifth goal went in. Sounded like the north stand had started it off.
It's a great chant. Camp or not it is unique and the piss taking back is tolerable as it's only ever used when we are winning! More, please!
The chant itself is great, and very 'Tigers', its the accompanying arm movements that are camp at best. I'll shout it from the rooftops, but my hands will be firmly in my pockets, particularly when its bloody freezing!
Glad to hear it was still observed. Always feels to me as though there's something self-deprecating about thousands of blokes doing the camp arm movements and although opposition fans take the piss out of the arm movements (albeit as Mr Shoes says it only happens when we're trouncing their team) I suspect they'd also love to have something that's uniquely their own too.
It was definitely chanted a few times both from E4 where I am and North Stand although I felt sorry for the Charlton fans having to support that shower of s**t. We went to Charlton 3 seasons ago in our promotion year and they are the most friendly and accomodating fans I have met so I have a certain affection for them.
The mauled chant doesn't work anymore - it originates from the days that quite a few on here, and even more in the ground have (luckily) never seen, Hull City is no longer the butt of footballing jokes, for me, it's lost all of the gallows humour that it was associated with ........... as a crusty old traditionalist it pains me to say, it's become naff**. **I am open to being re-converted though!
