It's a dog eat dog world. You lost some good players last year as we are this year.
A few years ago saints nearly went bust and i remember reading how tough a time you had. At the moment QPR are not in the best place (championship) but who knows in 2 years you might be down here and us in the Prem and we will take players off you. That's football

I'm not convinced that he'll always start for Southampton, let along get into the England squad.

Having said that. I'm a big fan and I wish him all the best. I just can't shake off the niggly annoyance at his "I'm staying till the end of the season" statement live on TV. I think he may have a bit of an issue with sections of our fans too, as I haven't heard of any quotes from Charlie saying bye to the fans etc etc.

His wife posted something on twitter saying great club, great fans. Maybe she wears the trousers and is speaking on his behalf lol.....

He's always insisted he doesn't want to move with a young family having just settled in Berks fairly recently so was always waiting for Southampton IMO. Don't think he has any issue with the fans- don't see why he would- his statements have just generally been thanking QPR etc.

Anyway, we move on. The £4m might mean we can afford to offer Hoilett a new deal ......

Thought I read he said something like he had had a fantastic 2.5 years at QPR at least.

What happens in six years time? Are you assuming we will want him back then because he'll be over the hill and knackered and therefore an absolutely perfect fit in line with our tried and tested recruitment policy?

Good luck to Charlie. I shall undoubtedly have a commodity of interest in seeing how well he succeeds. He's been a good player for us during his two and a half years, and got the respect, and move, he deserves.
Can't put him at fault for the poor management/board during that time.
Now to moving on and seeing if we can find a suitable replacement to compliment Polter, who is beginning to show his work rate and opportunity to score when supported and fed the ball.

I'm glad for him and he deserves to play for a successful team where the owners seem to know what they're doing. However there is no getting away from the fact that our owners have again cocked up spectacularly in terms of it being a sound financial decisions. This is no exception. Whether it is £4m or £8m the lack of clear thinking in the summer has cost them at least another £4m. Why should I be surprised or angered by this? It's their money they've spunked away. But please, I don't want to read any more about what a sound bit of wheeler dealing it has been. They are the laughing stock of the football world.

I reckon we should put it to bed now.
Charlie plays for Southampton and we got mugged for the best striker we have had here in years.
    However
Charlie is just another player that has come and gone. When i go to the next game i will be interested in the team and beating Ipswich.
I am actually looking forward to a new striker/s

I been thinking the goals he scored for us this season may keep us up, or with a miracle send us up, in which case holding onto him this autumn would be worthwhile. But it's all speculation, Polter, Jet or a new striker could have scored as many as Austin if they had been given full trust from the season start.

Yep. Last word and all that. Not one to shy away from courting controversy. I watched an interview with him recently that portrayed his early years. Usually the rags to riches tough upbringing is a touching story. I think it just seems to have made him all the more resilient, oddly in a way that's not admirable. Shame.
